You miss something important for school...
So, today I went in to deliver the final piece of paperwork that is required for me to receive Financial Aid. After chatting a bit, the lady asks me to hold on a second while she makes sure that I've done everything.
Then she tells me I'm not even eligible for financial aid.
As it turns out, my school has a rule stating that if you do not complete 67% of the classes you attempt, you are not eligible for financial aid.
As of the last semester I took classes (Because I failed math... again...) I've only complete 65% of classes.
I got notification of this sometime after spring semester ended, and I only just learned about it today. This happened because I had decided not to take any classes for fall semester, due to the fact that it was just too rough on my financially, as well as physically and mentally (Not getting enough hours at work + having to wake up so early for both every day, among other things), so besides submitting my grades to my works school program, I didn't look at anything on my student page.
Now I have to write an appeal letter explaining why I failed two math classes just so I can get financial aid. I'm fairly certain it'll get approved, because.
1. I have a 3.41 GPA.
2. I've only ever failed math classes, and I've always had trouble with math.
3. 65% of classes completed is pretty close to what I actually need.
4. I've only taken 7 classes total, so it's mostly because of that that I have 65%.
Still, though, I wish I had seen this earlier so I could have done it earlier. Now I feel like I should also explain why I didn't do it earlier, on top of explaining that math has always tripped me up. Shit sucks. :/

Just tell them you thought 65% was better than 67%, and maybe that is why you failed math.

Yeah, it sucks. Also, get tutoring for math. Most Universities offer tutoring for the sophomore and below level math classes. Even if it costs money, you should do it. Consider how much it costs to fail a class and then have to not only retake it but also delay other classes as a result.
enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P

Financial aid is just super sloppy. I was going to turn a BS minor into a BS major but my financial aid fucked up and only paid for my grad classes... stupid considering that i was calling almost every day the week before classes started and waas assured that "tuition will be payed automatically"... First day of classes start, any tuition not payed gets classes dropped. Yay.
What math classes are you refering to?

Re: You miss something important for school...
The exact issue you ran into is the one I ran into.
My school considers getting a B only completing 90% of the class, a C 80% etc......... and I withdrew from two classes one term.
So basically I was .001% too low and was considered "not having enough academic progress". They only informed me 1/2 way through the next term when they ripped all my financial aid out from under me and informed me I need $22k more to complete the year.....
Screw that......-- Intentionally Left Blank --

It's Intermediate Algebra. Failing those two classes don't actually count toward my GPA, which is why it's still so high. Math was the only subject that I was tested on that I didn't automatically test into a College Level. And even then, my class is the class you take before College level.
@ Rush: My College isn't like that. It considers C's and above as completing the class 100%. But my college is just a community college.
Got my letter in Yesterday. All I can do now is wait.

So, apparently there was something else that I was supposed to do for this, besides writing a letter. Only problem is, nobody told me about it until just tonight. So now I have to jump through some more hoops just to get them to review it. Meanwhile, Registration has been open for 5 days.

If they're also giving you the run around, you HAVE to speak to someone higher up. Make sure to ask for someone like that.
