1) Same kid wouldn't be any good as a soccer player either
2) You weren't comparing, you were going on a (typical) anti-soccer jab. Didn't say hockey is like soccer with more balance etc, you said with, meaning soccer doesn't require any of it (when it obviously does).
3) Highly doubt it
4) Rugby, NHL, NFL, Soccer, Cricket, MLB, NBA. Arguably NASCAR/Indy Car could be near the top though, being in a metal box in shitty conditions for hours.

Re: Winter Olympics 2014
Why couldn't a kid with no arms be good at soccer again? Seems to me he would be immune to hand penalties.
And putting soccer in the same league as any contact sport is ridiculous. Adding power sports to the mix is insane.
I'll stand by my original, unedited statement.

As a person who has two arms dex, you're really not qualified to make assumptions about what they would or wouldn't be good at. You have no idea how arms assist in keeping balance. Quit hating on soccer for a second and think about it. You're just making yourself look like a bigot.

Re: Winter Olympics 2014
Saw this thread in the recent thread block....(working as intended?).....
Read the last two pages
.....left saddened and disappointed at the failing and flailing "logic" being employed. High Drama would be proud of the last two pages for the sheer uselessness and mean-spirited context in evidence.

Aw man, I wanted to jump in the fun, but now Al makes me feel bad for doing it...
But then again when has that ever stopped me?
I have played organized football, baseball, basketball, soccer, and street hockey(I know and admit it is nothing near the real thing having skated on ice with no stick or anyone trying to flatten me). Trying to compare one to the other on any level is just retarded. You can poke fun at any of them, for example, if hockey players are such great athletes then why do they play for 2-3 minutes, then have to sit down for 4-6? Be a man, play all 60 on the ice. I mean soccer players go 90, so are you some kind of girly man? Oh, and football players play for 3-10 seconds, then take a 30 second break, plus they don't go both ways(well at least only one admits to it).
To top it all off, my dad could beat up your dad.
This concludes my Bob Costas impersonation. Now back to the fun that is the Winter Olympics.

Re: Winter Olympics 2014
as someone that has played both organized soccer and hockey i would have to say hockey is much much harder and requires more balance than soccer. just the sheer fact that you skate on a pair of blades that is no more than 3/8" thick just about does it. soccer requires more eye foot coordination, hockey requires more hand eye coordination. soccer requires more endurance, hockey requires more short intense bursts with short periods of rest kind of like hiit training. my 2 cents.
back to Olympic talk now. Man Shawn white couldnt land the one trick that woulda made it a 3 peat but oh well. Watched the Norwegian Drive by Shooting Competition the other day (read biahalon) that was a cool show. US men won today in curling...finally. And the best sport in the world starts up competition. USA is gonna have a tough pool with russia and slovakia in it. Should make for some very excellent hockey.

Re: Winter Olympics 2014
I take a little offense to the bigot remark. I also don't think you know what it means.
Bigot - Definition and More from the Free Merriam-Webster Dictionary
Usually it isn't used to describe people who are argueing the capability of the handicapped. It also sounds like you are telling us just exactly what a handicapped person isn't capable of.......which would be a little bigoted.
Highly doubtful. My old man only lost one battle. He lost both of his legs on the way, but he went down swinging.
*Edit....Before you think I was being serious, Civil....I know you didn't mean anything.....just so you know.Last edited by dex71; 02-12-14 at 04:07 PM.
