If you watch competitive soccer at any level above college (and maybe even Division I college), you'll see how important hands and arms are to a soccer player. Sure, you can't use them on the ball unless you're a goal keeper, but you can use them to fend off a defender as you dribble, brace against a player when challenging for a ball in the air, and use them to help balance yourself as you make a play on the ball while off-center. They do a lot more than just run around and kick the ball back and forth.

I think you're using that example as a way to take a cheap shot at the game of soccer and athletes who play the game of soccer. As a fan of both hockey and soccer, I couldn't agree less with your assessment.

Yeah and having 2 legs use to be necessary to go skiing. Funny how things change.

Not funny. Amazing. The prosthetics of today make so many more things possible for those missing limbs, it's unreal. My dad had two, and when he was wearing long pants, you couldn't tell he had lost his legs just below his knees.

Today, a guy with no legs could play soccer or hockey. Arms are still a different story (really, it's the hands that require the development), but at the pace of tech, it won't be too long. Hopefully.

And WileE.......I wasn't talking about "above D-1". I was speaking in general terms. A guy with no arms could easily play soccer, while hockey would be impossible if you couldn't grip or manipulate the stick. If you choose to read more into that, I don't care enough to stop you.

And Red......You like soccer, but are a hockey bigot ( ). I like hockey, but have been told I am a soccer bigot (LOL). I don't think either one will change each other's minds. I think we should just agree to disagree before any more panties get bunched up around here.
