Re: Financial questionnaire help
I personally found the gender question irrelevant, I understand that you are trying to collect demographics but I don't understand how the person's gender is relevant? I was simply saying that if you are going to ask it, I would word it differently. You say that if they can't identify as male or female they won't have a home loan, that is not true and rather short sighted. There is a large LGBT population working at and/or attending the university that I work at. They have consumer loans. They have issues with that question. If that is not your target audience, then that is your choice. There is a reason they pass recommendations around their community for consumer businesses that understands their needs and addresses them. Your institution will not be among their recommendations.

Re: Financial questionnaire help
Okay let's not be so sensitive here. As I stated earlier, this my first survey, and don't collect data for a living and this is not a professional survey. If you wanted to refer to your self as male or female I don't care which. You might find it irrelevant, but I think it's important enough. Maybe males or individuals who refer to themselves as males don't understand today's lending procedures. If this were the case id hope to find a trend and offer a solution. I personally don't care if you refer yourself as a male, female, rat, dinosaur, or ninja turtle. If you don't understand what your agreeing to when you sign a loan and would like to, I think I can help.
As for the not receiving a loan, I poorly worded that. You will receive a loan, but if you fill out an application for a home loan in person more than likely whether you're male or female will be recorded under Home Mortgage Disclosure Act.
Let's not go overboard here, if I didn't care about recommendations I wouldn't be asking you guys to fill out a survey and provide feedback. This isn't going to my institution, in fact I will never release the results..
I did not mean to offend and I apologize if I did. You're right I really don't care much about demographics, I'm more interested if people know what the hell is going on when they sign their lives away. It was my hope that basic demographic info would help me further pin point where there's potential improvement and help..
This in itself is a learning experience for me so thanks..

Re: Financial questionnaire help
I didn't take it personal (ie offended), I meant from my personal perspective that I was just trying to open the situation to an often overlooked demographic. Being open minded to the feedback is the first step. I just bought a new house 6 months ago and sold my old home. It was a painful experience and I have a masters in business and I understood what was happening and why. I wouldn't want to go through the process as the average joe.

Re: Financial questionnaire help
No you're right I've asked you guys to look at this before I release it to everyone and if it's come in only the first few surveys it'll likely be an issue and can be perceived as insensitive, which is the direct opposite of what I'm trying to accomplish. I went back and added a third option.
Thank you
