Thread: Total Lunar Eclipse April 15, 2014

For those of you who were unaware, there was a total lunar eclipse overnight. I stayed up to photograph it. Here's an animated gif showing off the best of the shots.

Ahh you're lucky, couldn't get much of a view on the east coast due to heavy cloud cover / rain. I stayed up until about 3:50 am, running out every couple minutes to try to see it, but never got a clear view. The best I could see was a bit of a shadow on the left side of the moon around 1:50, after that it was just totally covered in clouds.

I think the next one is in September/October this year, hoping for a better view at that time.

I'm always super lucky when these things happen. I live in a dark sky city at 7k ft elevation so we got a killer view of it last night. So awesome

Beh, dam the moon for being full as soon as I get my telstar working again.

We were cloudy until about mid-afternoon yesterday and it cleared up nicely. This was taken from my light pollution ridden back yard. Next total lunar eclipse is October 8. Starts around 3am central and finishes at around 6:30am. I'll probably head out somewhere further out to photograph it and try to capture it from beginning to end. Was too damn late last night... went to bed at 2:30am and was up at 6 for work.

Caught a glimpse last night. Very cool gif though.

Way better than the shot I got new my phone lol. I went out to my backyard and saw it and I was just amazed. Very cool.

Edit: Also the new Cosmos show has got my stellar phenomenon juices flowing.

I plan on doing something similar to that next time... A little easier to just get up early than to try and stay up all night and then work the next day.
