From what I have gleemed from the interwebs (believe at your own risk) Luke has been guarding a Sith temple all these years that has a very powerful sith buried there. Seems it has played with his mind a bit. The villain for this movie is supposidly looking for said temple.

I am almost wondering if the girl is Han's daughter. Would make sense with the Falcon and she was a Jedi in the novels, so Luke could be talking to her about their family.

That's my thought too, if he is indeed talking to someone and not crazy. She seems like a rouge like Han from the quick clips they show.

Luke talks to Vader like Mork talks to Orson.
