This was such a better championship match than Spain v Netherlands. That match was horrendous. 13 cards or something like that. Man Sweinsteiger looked so exhausted at the end of that game. He could barely make it off the field after 120 minutes. Same as that last match that went 120 minutes - he could barely make it off the field. What a true German footballer, playing his heart out until the final whistle

Great match, so glad it didn't go to pk! Beautiful goal ... glad it wasn't some accidental lucky undeserved/undefended strike.

This is the best little tribute video I've seen yet. So many incredible and memorable moments about this world cup and the video captures most of the energy and excitement of the moments. I did my best to try not to miss a game and I think I watched every match save for 2 or 3 during the group stage.
The Good:
- Seeing Miraslov Klose break the all time world cup goal scoring record and walking off the World Cup stage for the very last time with a win
- Robin Van Persie's "Flying Dutchman" header goal against Spain in the group stage. Loved the revenge for South Africa
- Seeing James rally Columbia through to the bracket stage with all of the raw talent he has
- Watching Costa Rica come out of nowhere and give the fight of their lives, even when they went down to 10 men.
- The USA support at the largest its ever been and Clint Dempsey scoring within the first seconds against Ghana who had knocked us out previously
- Seeing France bounce back from their dismal play and controversy in the last world cup. Benzema!
- When Drogba walked out onto the field with Ivory Coast in their first match and seeing all of the support for their nation.
- Mexico vs Brazil was one of the top 5 matches I've ever seen. It was action packed from start to finish and Ochoa was LEGEND!
- Australia giving it their all, in spite of losing every match...again.
- Louis van Gaal putting Krul in goal for the penalty kicks where he blocked the last shot and sent Netherlands through to the semis
The Bad:
- Spain giving the most lackluster performance of their careers
- Russia didn't really deliver the same energy and excitement they showed in previous tourneys
- The host nation being absolutely humiliated in the bracket stage. I wanted Germany to win, but that was a nightmare for Brazil.
- Cristiano Ronaldo played VERY passive and made practically no impact on the tournament.
- The officiating in several of Brazil's matches, including that penalty kick against Croatia in the opening match.
- England. Rooney, Sterling, and Stiridge had their moments but mostly went down without a fight.
- Japan and South Korea failing to make big impacts on the tournament as they had in previous years
- Jozy Altidore pulling his hammy in the first match
The Ugly:
- Louis Suarez bites again!
- Clint Dempsey getting his face kicked in
- Schweinsteiger getting his face cut
- Pepe's red card against Müller
- The challenge against Neymar that broke his back
- Arjen Robben getting the penalty kick against Mexico (I agree that it was a penalty, but it was literally responsible for Mexico's elimination)
These were some of my favorite and least favorite moments now that we've had a few months to think about it. What were yours?
