    Re: Donuts

Krispy Kreme has actually closed several of their stores in the Dallas area. They can't seem to compete with all the Asian-owned donut shops you find in all the strip centers. As far as chains go... I enjoy Dunkin Donuts... They're not great donuts, but I think it's the whole connection with my childhood. I was glad to see they started popping into the DFW area after growing up in the Northeast. Another chain that isn't bad is Shipley's. There's a Shipley's in Garland (Southeast corner of Arapaho & Jupiter).

If you want to venture down to the Austin area, stop in at LoneStar Bakery in Round Rock.

    World Famous Round Rock Donuts

Their donuts are an experience. They are good, hot or cold (but better hot).

    Re: Donuts

I have a friend that owns a pastry shop and he say's the only thing that makes one donut different from another is the cut or grind of the flour, the finer the cut the lighter and fluffy the donut. He said that he only uses White Wings #1 grade.

As for chain's....#1 in my book www.shipleydonuts.ws

It's also a "Do I feel the need for a site catering to something I only eat occasionally?"

My parents also get the "low fat" cream cheese while still piling it all on. If I've gone with them, I also get an earful of "why would you get the caffeinated coffee?!" or "Ewwww lox" or "Ewww smoked salmon".
enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P

Yeah, about the only times I ever went to a physical location in high school were when they would have fresh ones off the line.

Krispy Kreme are terrible. Luckily we have an actual bakery, that's been here since at least the 50's.

I agree. They're great when they're first off the line, but then, it's hard for donut not to be good when it's that fresh.
