The guy went to an event. He had a great time. It wasn't perfect. But it was awesome.

He had fun. Lots of people had fun. He met women. They met him. He's excited to do it again. He posted here to share.

Maybe it wouldn't have been a great time for you, and if you want to bust his balls about hippie chicks or shitty music then I'd probably join in and ask if the arm-pits matched the carpet and drapes, but what you're saying isn't coming across as good-natured.
