The plan I'm on through my mother's school district just switched from BCBS to Aetna. We've known about the change for a while, and we have known the change would officially begin on Sept. 1.
Before the start of the month, we got a letter explaining things and that a bill would be arriving later to pay. My dad doesn't like for these types of things to be paid online. So, we've been waiting for the bill, which still hasn't arrived.
I had a psychiatrist appointment on Tuesday. Copay for that went up to $50, but that's not the issue. The issue is that we had to find out via my psychiatrist's office yesterday morning that same day my coverage began, it was cancelled. No stated reason. Now, I'm looking at an insured billing for my appointment and for my prescription while I try to sort this out.
There was a number for a representative to talk to directly on the letter we have received. My mom and I have both tried reaching it several times a day since we received the notice from my psychiatrist. The representative is never there and her voicemail general message is unintelligible. Seriously, I haven't heard mumbling that made in my life.
I've gotten a hold of Aetna through their general line now, but it's going to take a while to sort out what the hell has happened. At least the physical/bloodwork I had happened before the switch.enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P

Apparently (same tone as used in the original Coupling), Aetna doesn't handle its own billing. The billing company accidentally forgot to forward paperwork. They remembered yesterday after my mother and I called. The still haven't forwarded us information to set up prescriptions or any bills yet, but at least I'm covered now. -____-

Re: Aetna
Good luck with Aetna. I had that through my work, and I never liked them.
Keep an eye on it, because they have a habit of messing with your medication. I had to start taking a lower dosage for a med I've been taking my whole life because they didn't cover the higher dosage (Higher Dosage = 40 MG), but they didn't start noticing I was taking the higher dosage for a good 6 monthes after I had them. One day my meds were denied and it was hell to get some new ones.
Also, the co-pay for Psych doctors is usually $50, but my friend who also had Aetna had to pay $90.

Mine is $50 for a specialist. It was $30 with BCBS. This has stuff is the final nail that has convinced my parents to go with Obama Care. That and the $550/month bill for just me.
My med shouldn't change. I'm only on Zoloft.
Everyone we spoke to just reeked of incompetence.enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P
