Well its done. It has some imperfections that i'll address later such as the mosquito i found yesterday that jurassic parked itself in the coating. The wife need to get a longer runner for it and im pulling the rug tomorrow and putting stone in. It looks smaller in the picture for whatever reason but the table is 6.5 ft long and 4 ft wide. I bought the chairs and so on. I didn't feel my skill level was ready for that.one of my projects-12289464_10206362108229656_7857574459180810371_n-jpg

Missed that one on tapatalk. It is..... GORGEOUS! I really do like this. Looks heavy as hell. Do you need a forklift to move this beast around your house?

I'm curious about the long term rigidity of the leg joints since it seems you fixed them with brackets and screws working in shear. Not an expert at all but I've never seen table legs fixed like that.

I'm presently building a workbench that must be pretty enough to be part of the appartement furniture (Girlfriend constraint). I really don't know nothing about wood finish and I would like to know if you'd recommend the finishing product you used for heavier use like on a workbench ? Is it really hard, like epoxy, so it can protect the wood from dent and also chemicals etc... ?

Very nicely done DG! That came out very nice! I've never done any large furniture carpentry, only smaller things like boxes and book-ends. I would love to make a sweet computer desk in the future, perhaps I will try sometime in the next year

Thanks and yes its heavy as shit. I would recommend the finish. I have some imperfections in it some of which is saw dust. I thought i did a good enough job cleaning it before hand but obviously not. Its tough as nails once it cures, so yeah i like the product.

Also thanks everyone else. Im not much of a carpenter so my skills are limited but i do have the funds to buy the right tools mostly. The wood planer may have been a bit over board but i wanted it so...

Hey Death!!! How are you man?!! Good to see you are still around. I dropped on to the site to see who was still here and it was good to see you, festus and others still around. Was thinking about getting the new Star Wars FS and gaming more. Haven't decided if I am going the PS$ or computer format though.

Mans seeing you brings back great memories of battles together. Take care...see you around!

I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was!

    Re: one of my projects

Well while i was doing this project i was doing a bathroom remodel. The ac drip line backed up and caused a bit of mold. So i gutted the entire bathroom, putt up new drywall, put in a spa tub, new sink and what not. I attempted to mud the walls myself. I figured i can float the hell out of a floor so how different could it be?

I learned a lesson and i always felt learning a limitation is a good thing. Im no drywall finisher. I spent 5 days putting a layer on and sanding it, rinse and repeat 5 times. I had to give it a solid attempt which i think i did. After that i spent 2 months trying to get a finisher from any of the sites i go on to come over and give me a price.

Most would say sure and never call to set a time. Others would set a time then never show up. 1 actually made it to the house and never called back to give a quote. It was seriously like i was asking people to do it for free. One finally shows up , gives a quote, and is working on christmas eve because he wants to get it done. I think its safe to say i found someone that like money as much as i do. He just earned a bonus and future work seeing as im going thru this place room by room and remodeling it.

In short finally i can tie up project 2 and start new ones the beginning of the year. Sun room has to be next the floor is popping off and the people that owned this place before me painted it yellow and green and used interior doors for exterior opening. Im guessing he didn't know there was a difference.
