Thread: Lots of steam accounts getting hacked/spamming

This is your annual reminder to make sure your steam account is secure.

I'm not sure if the steam account itself is compromised or if it is some kind of virus/bot that can send messages through your steam client. Either way, be careful out there. I've gotten 5 messages in the past 3-4 days from different TPGer's with the following message.

IraVedic0: lol
IraVedic0: found your video
IraVedic0: http://vide...... (link removed so no one accidentally clicks)
IraVedic0: you are nuts


Make sure you have those accounts secure, people.

Something that helps is to set up Steam Guard including installing the Steam app on your phone and setting up two-factor authentication.

Run your AV and something like malwarebytes. Bootscan if you have the time.

Use this people. I rarely use the app and only start it to use steam guard.

I clicked on that damn video.

I haven't been online in a little while and I had 43+ steam messages upon logging in today.

Rick posted this on my steam wall after detailing the virus i was spreading.
