Like, my gripe is that the CBS All Access or whatever thing will kill the show. Then execs will blame the failure on something else and say that Star Trek can't work on TV again.
enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P
Bigdog-Sweet home Alabama you are an idiot.

Re: Star Trek Discovery [Potential Spoilers]
I watched the first one. Almost made it all the way though.
It felt very flat to me. Perfunctory. Clumsy. Obvious.
Graceless.
I got bored by the time Mercer was reviewing his new crew. That whole scene was completely flat and unoriginal.
There is huge potential for satire and parody of Star Trek. It's clear that the creators of this show love and respect the franchise, and also understand its fundamental silliness. But you can't make a whole series out of homage. In this case, they couldn't even make a single episode.
Maybe it was an elaborate setup where the point was to lull me in by making me roll my eyes one too many times before the writers pulled the trigger and it became hilarious.
If that's true - if I bailed too soon - please let me know.

Re: Star Trek Discovery [Potential Spoilers]
The Orville sucks ass. Watched the pilot and there was nothing funny or anything interesting about it. At least in the new star trek those progressive crew were easily killed off by the Klingons. "Oh noes we are explorers and adventurers" *sucked out in vacuum*

Re: Star Trek Discovery [Potential Spoilers]
anybody that gives a sci fi series (or any series really) one episode and done needs to be shot in the face with an RPG. The Orville started out clumsy and the jokes were definitely out of place. They felt totally tacked onto things and the entire show didn't feel like it knew what it wanted to be. Episode 2 was a little better. Third episode it still felt a little clumsy but it was definitely starting to show what it really wanted to be. And that is basically old school Trek with some humor thrown in. TONIGHT'S episode... VERY good. The jokes didn't feel forced. The soundtrack felt old series trek-like. The show felt like a cohesive whole for the first time. It felt very must like Star Trek. Moreso than Discovery did in its first couple of episodes (and I liked Discovery as well excepting the guttural klingon delivered by people with far too many prosthetics in their face/mouth to clearly deliver any lines of dialog at all...) Right now I look forward to the Orvil quite a bit.

Re: Star Trek Discovery [Potential Spoilers]
I want to like the show, but I'm having trouble getting myself to continue past the first episode of Discovery.
