Router question.
I'm in the market for a wireless router and I see some of these Lynksis deals with their "Speed Boost" technology... Without getting too technical, will a router's "Speed Boost" bullsh** do anything funky to my CS that makes me look "fishy"? I've heard of this issue back in my Planetside days and wanted to see if it was an issue with CS:S/DoD:S.
Thanks.
(If any of you have 802.11g routers you recommend let me know. Thanks again)

it's all about the combo.
All these wireless routers these days have wired routers built into them for just such a purpose.

Hey man..... Don't bitch when your connection starts going out and you start experiencing lag issues, i see it happen all the time with wireless.... But your right, why knock out two birds with one stone. Theres always something bad that comes along with the good, doesn't life just suck sometimes? I guess if you really hav't to have it, then go for it consult.
Personally im an old skool guy with the network cables hidden under rugs in my apartment and stuffed underneath wooden trim and carpet... haha whatcha know about the ghettoness niggah.

RE: Re: RE: Router question.
at least you hide your cables....
consultant isn't going to PLAY wirelessly, he's just going to get a wireless router/switch type thingymajobber.
I've got a linksys. My roomate jacks in wirelessly. I never really notice that he's doing anything, unless he goes for some super huge download, something that's going to take minutes. then I can see it.
speed boost, I think, is more of a nice name of saying "bandwidth restriction" for the wireless clients. Meaning, if you're gaming, and doing your wired thing, the wireless punks will have to slow the hell down, so you can be sure to get what you need first. Then they can pick up what's left.
sounds like a good idea, in principle.....but I don't know who's actually done it.
Skervy, billy, and G would be the network saavy dweebo's to talk to about that.

RE: Re: RE: Router question.
As long as your wired....you should't have any problems with a linksys or dlink. Don't go netgear...they are crap.
Now if you really want the good shit so that your gaming traffic can be prioritized, get one of these:
