Shotties are needed. That much is clear. But I'm usually not the one taking it. I can play with it, but not nealry as well as with the M-16.
The shottie reload time is what bugs me most. Also the lack of precision. But it's a great gun to mow down some shit.

I love the M16 and will take it pretty much all the time. The only time I go autoshotty on VS is if the level is close quarters, like NM4.

Shotty don't take long to reload, just learn how to do it. Shoot once, hit reload, and continue the cycle. The shotty will kill a group of infected with one shot. Than you reload after that one shot. I never use more than one shot at a time cept maybe on NM4 if my team refuses to go to the room at the end of the hall and they want to be in the corner. Than I will just keep shooting and melee will im done reloading and pick up more ammo....lol

Ammo pile every few steps? Most of the time your lucky to find 1-2 ammo piles on a level.

Only time ammo becomes a problem is if your killing to many infecteds or holding the trigger down for to long. Thats where the pistols come in. People with ammo problems should make more use of pistols in light swarms and random infecteds.

M16 is not my favorite weapon, but i can honestly say m16 is the most veristile weapon in the game. It can pretty much do a lil bit of everything. Its has accuracy, range and the abilty to control close swarms with a few bursts.

Hope this don't turn into a AS is better thread. All the AS lovers should make a AS luvin thread.

I tend to do that with the M-16 when it drops down to about 30-15 rds because it takes less time than reloading it from empty. The problem with the autoshotty is that people spray and run through their entire ten rounds trying to kill a small horde of 20 or so zombies.

The trick to the m16 is to treat it like a single shot weapon. It realistically doesn't shoot single shots unless you just tap it but if you squeeze 3-6 rounds off you can make that ammo last a while

Plus its great for killing boomers through walls in rooms you know they typically wait in there.
