Addiction...
Addiction...
What has TTP done to me?
Here I am at the shop getting an oi change and tire rotation and rather than watching their boring Televison... Here I am reading the forums on my cell phone!
I AT least get to keep my soul... right?

Re: Addiction...
I bought a Nokia 770 tablet for reading online coursework and that sort of thing when I don't have my laptop. Let's see the results:
Time spent reading school-related documents: ~15%
Time on the TTP forums: ~80%
And the other 5 is Gmail. You're not alone, Dragon!

Scorboard lag in offline mode?
So I'm having a lan party and we're playing left 4 dead. All of us are playing in offline mode. I host a LAN game offline by typing the following in the console:
sv_lan 1
sv_allow_lobby_connect_only 0
then loading a map such as:
map l4d_vs_hospital01_apartment
After joining I type:
mp_gamemode versus
Now the server is a valid versus lan server, my friends can all join.
Here comes the problem.
For some reason, whenever I press tab to open the scoreboard it freezes the game for approximately 40 seconds (gives others connected to my game an eta till being disconnected, had to change cl_timeout to a higher number to allow them to stay connected.
This happens once a level. so I do it at the start of the first round, playing survivor, after the first 40 sec freeze I can freely press tab for the rest of the round and all the infected round with no problem.
When the next level loads up, it freezes again.
Now I'm sure this sounds like a problem with just me, but heres the twist.
It happens to EVERYONE else in the game, and even if I host my own single player game ( with all the console reverted settings) it still happens.
So it appears to be something with steam offline mode.
I tried a 'quick fix' by just unbinding my scoreboard temporarily as to not press it by accident, but by doing so it doesn't seem to give scores out at the end of the round ( dunno why) so I might have to just bind it to something I wont press instinctively.
Problem is I still would like to know why it does it and if theres any way to fix it. (helps out a lot to see survivor health and equipment)
If anyone knows any fixes to this problems I'd appreciate it, I plan on doing some more lan of it tomorrow and would like to have the problem solved.

I am not sure exactly what is going on here. I just tested that by starting up my own LAN server, following the steps you posted. It works fine, and the tab key works as it should.
I don't suppose you tried reloading the game, did you? And, this IS a valid, legal copy of L4D, right? If not, there might be something hosed in the copy you have.*********************************

Yeah it's actually a legit copy.
If I do the same exact thing, but steam is in Online mode it doesn't have a problem, but when I try it in Offline mode it lags when I press the scoreboard.
I tried something else, and I again hosted a game in online mode and had someone join my game from offline mode and I wouldn't have lag opening my scoreboard, but anyone in offline mode would have it.

Well, I am not sure what to tell you on this one. It may just be something about the online mode versus the offline mode. That may just be the way it works.
I don't know what to tell you about that one. Have you checked the Steam forums for an answer?*********************************

Yeah.. I don't know what to do. another thing that is kinda annoying is that when I host a game the infected things are still random (i.e. we're fighting 2 and a witch tanks and they fight 1 tank no witch)
I don't know if theres any special way to fix it, but it's kinda annoying to z_spawn them and would like to know if thers a random, I didin't really search around for it though I'm sure its somewhere.
