I Don't think 20 - 25 seconds is exaggerating. I sat looking round at the shaking until there was a final jolt and that's when I packed my family outside - I thought the jolt was a precursor to something bigger, but luckily not

Damn, In new Hampshire we don't really get that stuff. Tornados, earthquakes, hurricanes. All we get is rain, 2 years ago we had flooding like crazy. Nice to know your all okay and now you have a story to tell!

ahh, earthquakes. Having spent a good portion of my life growing up in the suburbs of San Diego, I got rather used to them. None of those quakes were as interesting as the 6.9 we had in Seattle back in 2001. That was a hell of a surprise... "waitasecond... this is an earthquake... wow, up here?!" Then I noticed the server racks swaying a bit so common sense took over and we got out of that building. The weirdest thing was seeing the walls of the back of our building, which were two-story tall windows, waving back and forth by as much as a foot in each direction.

Yeah, needless to say there was fairly extensive damage to the city. Seattle simply wasn't built to sustain a strong earthquake.
