    Microphone always receiving?

    When I started playing TF2 I pulled out my old MS Gamevoice (I think it's called) headset I hadn't used in years. When I plug in the mic to my also ancient soundcard (SB Live 5.1, the oldest component in my PC), it is basically always receiving. NOT always transmitting, I still have to press the VOIP button to talk in game. But it is always picking up sound and sending it to the speakers. It's not a huge deal, but sometimes I use external speakers in addition to the mic and the potential for feedback is there, although only at really high speaker volumes.

    I don't remember it being this way when I used to use it years ago. Is this normal or not? If not I guess I need either new mic, soundcard, or both.

    Hummm.....sounds like a conflict B/T the card and the speakers. What do you mean always receiving? It should always be receiving. You should always have to push your VOIP button to talk unless you have the option to have the mic set to detect which sux because it usually picks up room noise and xmits that. Why use both?

    Verify that the microphone input is muted in your sound settings.

    Ok, that must be it, I don't think I have it muted. I'll check when I get home.

    EDIT: It worked, thanks!

    What's your ideal loadout?

    Pretty much what it says on the tin. What are your favoured tools, and what role do you like to play in your team?

    My ideal loadout would be a sniper rifle (laser sighted of course), melee weapon (axe or katana), pipe bomb, explosive ammunition box (or defib if someone's deployed a box) and pills. I like to adopt the longest range role nowadays, and nothing quite saves a fellow survivors ass like exploding sniper rounds! Melee weapon never has to recharge or reload, a life saver when taken by surprise. Pipes for when we need a breather, and pills give out a lot of temp health. The defib and the pipe'll work in conjunction when the worst has happened. ; ^ ;

    Depends on the stage;

    1:

    - Any long range rifle
    - Medkit
    - Pills
    - Boomer Bile
    - Magnum

    2.

    - AK-47
    - Medkit
    - Adrenaline shot
    - Molotov
    - Dual Pistols

    2.

    - Any auto-shotgun
    - Defib
    - Pills or Shot
    - Molotov
    - Magnum

    While I do love the chainsaw and bat I prefer to kill things before they get within three feet of me and I usually choose my guns based on how my team mates are playing. A lot of times I'm the guy watching over everybody else while they run through the map.

    Depends on my team, if I'm playing with my gamer buddy, he allways picks shotguns, so I go for the AK/M4/ Anything with better range on it, as for thrown, I'd prefer Pipe bomb, and then Pills, and a medkit :3
