Re: LSU goes to national championship game

It was a long shot after that arkansas loss, but they made it. I can't think of two other teams that should be there other than OU, and that's a big maybe. Hopefully The coaching staff at LSU will stop being so damn conservative and play like they did in the beginning of the season.

Things LSU needs to do to win (ironically what they were doing the 1st half the season but aren't doing now)

*** Blitz 70% of the time
*** More deep balls need to be thrown
*** Bring back more unpredictable special team plays
*** GIVE THE BALL TO HESTER!!!!

    Go get em tigers!!!

PS: Hawaii can kiss my ass with the 3rd weakest schedule in the nation. They don't deserve anything close to a BCS bowl in my opinion. Damn team didn't play anybody and they were going to be offended if they didn't make a BCS bowl...gimme a break....weak.

    Fucking bullshit.

The people who do rankings have been jacking off to LSU's mere mention all year, and they end the season putting them against OSU.

And to top it off, USC gets paired against Illinois! Why the hell isn't ASU in the BCS? They're higher ranked than Ill, and actually, you know, played some hard games.

    Fucking BCS voters.

I just don't get college football. Their ranking system and way of determining who plays what in what bowl seems really messed up to me.

Re: LSU goes to national championship game

Ok Im not overly pissed about the BCS this year and feel that some teams were given a gift with certain bowls, case in point LSU and Illinois. A few things to understand though before anyone flames what I am gonna say.

    1. The Rose Bowl is ALWAYS traditionally Pac10 vs Big10, unless it is the BCS National Championship game. So since OSU got the big game, Illinois got the Rose Bowl and rightfully deserved because they handed OSU their only loss and earned the right to play in that game.

    2. Each major conference has to be represented in a BCS game. I know its fucking retarded, but hey they set it up so that the smaller schools dot feel left out. You also have to remember that they are not doing a playoff because of money, and the BCS is pretty much guaranteeing money to the smaller schools. This is how you get games like Boise Stat vs. Oklahoma and this year Hawaii vs. Georgia.

    3. LSU squeaked into it this year by the skin on their back. They lose later in the year which is more punishable in the BCS to an unranked team and still get the big game because WV and Mizzou couldn't finish the job. I personally think that Georgia shoulda been in that game against OSU, because they are hot right now and arguably playing the best football in the country.

If you want to understand the BCS more and how it works out check out this site, its very helpful:

Re: LSU goes to national championship game

To me it shouldn't be an issue of when you lose. Georgia didnt make it to their own conference's championship, and one of the SEC teams they lost to got beat by LSU in the very same conference championship Georgia couldn't make. Don't get me wrong, Georgia is an excellent team. However, both LSU and georgia are two loss teams. LSU beat both teams that UGA lost to. To add to LSU's case, they lost both of their games in triple overtime as the #1 team, don't tell me Georgia's two losses compare to those. Secondly, if you put VT ahead of LSU at the end of the season, you're just crazy. The Tigers butt raped them earlier this year. They jumped kansas, because kansas didn't make it to a conference championship, and they had a very weak schedule. They jumped Georgia for reasons stated above. So with that and WV and Mizz losing, LSU jumped to number 2. I guess this year, NOT playing in a conference championship hurt you.

Ohio State, is only here because of their preseason ranking and because other teams were losing. They didn't make it because of their wins. They have a decent team, but they didn't play a team all year that was ranked higher than 20th.

Honestly I think the top 4 teams are: LSU, Georgia, OU, and VT.

Virginia Tech doesn't seem like they would be a top 4 team, but their only losses came to #2 LSU, and #2 BC (On a heartbreaking heave by matt ryan). I believe OU has a wonderful team. Only two losses for them were the 3 point loss to Colorado on a gw FG, and loss to Texas Tech on a controversial catch.

My national championship would have UGA playing LSU. That would pit a resilliant, refuse to go down LSU team against one of the hottest teams in the nation. Two great teams, coming from the absolute best conference this year in college football, facing off in the south.

I mean really, there are so many 2 loss teams in the top 10. Who besides LSU would stick in there?

Re: LSU goes to national championship game

alright that makes sense rock..LSU beating the teams that Georgia lost to, so they get the nod. makes sense. I would say that OU deserves the game, but they have 2 losses and only one two loss team could make it in, either way its going to be a great with OSU in there. I really dont know about VT though. I was pissed when they lost to BC, because I hate anything that BC does (stems from hockey). But getting smoked by LSU and still getting a no. 3 ranking...wow just wow. IM surprised that Georgia and OU aren't ranked above them. I will say that Im glad that Mizzou did not get a BCS game because I dont think that they were that strong of a team this year anyways. Im not sure about this, but I think they had one of the easiest schedules this year.

and a national championship with two teams from the same conference would never happen. It did not happen last year when the two best teams in the country were Michigan and Ohio State, and there is no way that would ever happen...unless hell freezes over.

I know it wont happen. But if two of the top teams are in the same conference, then it should. Playoff anyone? I doubt it will ever happen, too much histor and $$$ at stake. Too bad college football is more about making $$$ than actually finding out who the best really is. I say, make the 4 bcs bowls, the playoff games. Then add an extra game or two for the 4 winning teams, then on to the national championship. More money, and the bowls keep their historical presence.

Re: LSU goes to national championship game

Good stuff, well let me throw my two cents in there.

In a time when parity in college sports is at its peak, the dominant teams will never be at the level of dominance we are so used too. Even just in the last 3 or 4 years this is becoming ever so true. It was a great season for college football though, many memories.

First off from the football ive watched this year there are 4 teams that looked like good football teams, good players at every position, strong schedules, believable national champions if you will. Now whether in this time of parity they played up to their abilities or not is another story.

    LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Florida.

Lsu, talent all over the place, size and speed that few can touch. However they squeaked out wins left and right. How bout the Kentucky game. Kentucky looked like the Dallas Cowboys of the 90's for one night. Was amazing and wasnt a fluke, those kids took it to LSU physically in a way they never expected and had the quarterback and recievers to get the rest done. I thought Woodson would win the Heisman after that game, how disappointing he has been after his shimmers of greatness. lol At kentucky i could excuse this loss, but not the Arkansas one. How a team that can only, ONLY run the ball complete passes and crucial ones to beat you in overtime is beyond me. How they didnt just stop the run and bogg Arkansas down into 3rd and longs is beyond me. My sister can throw better then any Arkansas arm they threw out there, and in Baton Rouge. Please.

Oklahoma, i knew the quarterback was gonna be a big question mark for the sooners and how far they went. In a time with parity i thought maybe, but the inconsistency and poor execution by the defense mid season really made me give up on them. Even in wins they looked un crisp and just lucky. The loss to tech puts them out in my mind.

Ohio State, well all i got to say for you buckeye fans is, PUUUULEEASE. You know somthing is wrong when your conference has 11 teams and called the Big 10. No conference championship game who is to think that if Juice Williams for Illinois can give yall so much trouble then maybe the similar quarterback for indiana wouldnt carve up that defense too? But no, you dont have to play them or play someone that beat them in a championship game. Yall just get to sit on your hands the last week up the year while everyone else is earning their trips to games. Fuck the big ten, royally!

Florida, talented enough to be there, injuries hurt em, Tebow playing well and think they would beat any one they played at this point in the season. Their unexcusable loss was to Auburn IMHO.

Best team in the country, Florida.

Who should play in the national championship game? Georgia who has played the best of any team the last couple weeks, beat Kentucky who beat LSU and beat several teams that stompt Arkansas, and Hawaii because they havnnt taken a shit down their leg yet! Whats that you say? not Hawaii cause they havnt played anyone, well you may be right so then its up to who took the smallest shit down their leg? If everyone is getting a mulligan then i guess that leaves Ohio State even though they cheat to keep the degree of brown down their leg at a minimum while others put it on the line that last week of the year!! Pullease buckeye fans! Oh and early season shit down legs arent as importatnt to me as late seasons shits! lol Hence Georgia losing to South Carolina 2 game of year and LSU losing last week?

Ohio State and Georgia is who it should be and Go BULLDOGS!!!

The big eleven should have their conference boycotted!!

    Smoke
