There were some other factors present why we didn't talk about it so much: In the 80's some D & D zealots committed suicide after their characters died and D & D was sometimes associated with the cult and devil worship, and we didn't like being placed in the same group as them. This is a whole other discussion and probably thread, but I think playing role-playing games, and video games, can really help an adolescent (and mature) mind grow and develop in many beneficial ways.

But the real reason why we didn't talk about role-playing games back when I was in high school is that we thought it would harm our chances with the ladies. In fact one of the nights we were playing a couple of girls stopped by my friends house, they took a look at the seven of us around a table that was cluttered with paper and pencils and dice and one of them said: "What are you guys doing? Homework?"

Yes, it's midnight and we're all up doing homework... not to mention that it was July.

I hear ya.....A group of my freinds and I were once all running a game of Middle-Earth and 5 girls came over and asked if we wanted to party....hmmmm...killing orcs and fighting Sauron or drinking it up with real live women? Was a tough choice , but in the end the girls won out, much to the dissapointment of he GM. LOL
