    L4D1&2 random crash

    Hi!
    Left4Dead 1 and 2, random crash:
After a minute of crash&sound loop, l4d task ends, Vista jumps back to desktop with the following error message:
"Display driver stopped responding and has successfully recovered"
I see this thing on two machines, since a year and i tried all version of all drivers without any differences.
    1. intel Q9550, 4GB, Nvidia GTS250 512MB, Vista Business 64bit.
    2. intel E7500, 4GB, Ati Radeon 3870, 512MB, Vista Ultimate 32bit.
Both machines are fully updated clean OS, updated directx.
Video driver settings are default. 1 display.
I tried all ingame video settings, seems more frequent crash with Aniso 2x.
Mean time between crashes from 1hour to 50hrs.
Memtest and Video card stability tests are OK.
    No problem with another appz.

    Any Idea pls?

You may want to experiment and see if it is heat related. L4D 1&2 are both very graphic intensive and your machine may be heating up too much. Can you pull the side off and point a small fan on it and see if it makes a difference?

Is anyone running L4D under Vista without crash problems for 2-3 hours of playing?

For all who using L4D under Vista without problem, pls: Do you have any custom setting in Vista? like manually sized page file, disabled services, etc., or any non-default bios setting? thx

I have never used Vista, but is there an XP mode you could run the program in to see if it makes a difference? You may be able to right click on the left4dead.exe and see if there is a compatibility mode option to run it in XP mode.
