Command & Conquer
Remember these games? Man, I remember back to i think 95 when we got it. GDI v. Nod lol
I originally got the demo of C&C from PCGamer and we had to buy the game it was so sick. Then I stuck with it through Red Alert and Red Alert 2 then I kind of fell out of the computer game scene. CS was the next game I started playing, and that was liek 7 months ago.
Thinking about dling or buying the entire set of C&C games. Anyone still play?
It'd be fun to like up like 10 of us and get at it...
Tesla Coils ftw.
Then again, it was always fun to build like 15 barracks to your guys crank out hella fast and building an army of like 500 men and storming the front.
gogogo!

Re: Command & Conquer
Hell naw.. I've played them all and the latest one was far from the greatest. Their ranking system was screwed up for months and it was completely imbalanced. Had fun for a little bit, but got monotonous real fast.
If you want to play a badass RTS, check out Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts. Now that's a truly awesome RTS, trumps C&C any day of the week in practically every area I can think of. It's balanced, very competitive, and every game is unique. Don't take my word for it though, check it our yourself, if your interested.

Re: Command & Conquer
Man, I used to love and play the Hell out of Command and Conquer, tiberian Sun. My friend and I would have tournament at his house like every sunday till 4:00 in the morning. That explains why I was always late on Mondays....
I miss those days, but am unable to revisit the genre. I think my wrist can no longer handle the monotony of micromanaging the enormous amount of troops required.
We used to also have Age of Empire tournaments every Sunday, and again the monotony....
We started off with Starcraft in the late 90's, moved to Age of empires, moved to Unreal Tournament, moved to Tiberian Sun, then ended with Zar (before we finally got burned out on RTS).

I disagree completely, Toker. Command and Conquer 3 was very well balanced. You just had to know how to use the different classes.
Nod could storm in with a tank rush, while GDI had incredible defenses. Hell, one sonic wave turret could take out an entire army.
The Scrin easily had the most powerful units in the game. This was mainly due to the fact that they could all have forcefields on them. A tripod rush with supporting aircraft carriers and battle cruisers was almost impossible to defeat. And let's not forget about the mothership.
The great thing about this game was that online games took only about 20-30 minutes in the worst of scenarios. I really enjoyed this, seeing how Company of Heroes was giving me 60+ minutes per game.
I think you should take another look at it. It is one of the most fun CnC games I have played.

Re: Command & Conquer
Yea sure some units balance out others, but it's just one big BLOB fest. I personally dont think there is a lot of strategy involved. There is some strategy, but nothing close to the micro/macro COH entails...
Did you play it when it first came out? The support was a joke. Buggy as hell and they fucked up the ranking system for like 4 months. It was fun, but loses it's momentum real quick... maybe its just me...
