    3D Avatar - Rv2pc3d

Wanted to share my new Avatar with everyone...!

I just recently have learned this technology, and I imagine you'll see more of this kinda of stuff from me it the future.

Basically, I used AutoCAD to draw and extrude the font, rendered the 3D font and animated it in Autocad. The using Adobe ImageReady, converted the Movie file to Gif.

Let me know what you guys think.

Thank you Soy, I appreciate your response. Sizes will only go down from here (very quickly); still learning so any input is good input. I am plan to have some grenades scattered around my name, like on the floor. A claymore or two I'f I can find them. There are websites that sell 3D models of all types of weapons, but I think I'm going to hunt down some specs and draw them myself. We'll see...

With animated GIFs size is hard to keep down. The sig I made for Quicklightning53 is about 411k and it is not very complex. Really, considering the smoothness of your animation 617k is pretty darn good. The only way to bring it down would be to reduce the colors used.. But really, 617k is reasonable for a video game forum where you can assume everyone has relatively fast connections. For dial-up or low end ISDN 617k avatars would be a bitch. But here it's damn nice. Again, good work; very smooth. You should check out the "Artwork and custom content" forum http://www.texasteamplayers.com/index.php?board=56.0 , maybe this post should be there as you may get feedback from some damn good CG artists that roam these places. The stickies there might have some good data too.
