Re: See something about TTP? Post the link!

We were already there we had incoming and were defending hall 1 well . Anyways this continued on for awile and then the squad leader did what i did because of the commanders berateing and left the rejoined so i was squad leader again, there was no other squads with a open slot and i got kicked for not following orders.
From what I understand, if you tell the commander WHY you can't follow their orders then you won't be kicked for NOT following orders. From personal experience when I first started playing on TTP, if he had said, "Commander I can't do that, we have hostiles coming in and if we leave they'll overrun the corridor," he wouldn't have been kicked or most likely even reported for not following orders. Sometimes a commander can miss things like firefights going on and just see's a bunch of blue dots just sitting there. I know I've done it before.

Re: See something about TTP? Post the link!

This was my post there in response to several of the posts in that thread:

Disclaimer: I am not an admin at TTP, however I play there almost exclusively and am a leader for one of the resident clans there.

What I'd like to point out (and a few others have said the same thing) but this is a gaming community that spans multiple games and the ideals of teamwork are enforced early, often, and across the board.

There are very few exceptions to the stated rules of "Squad up, use your mic, and follow orders." Hacking (and/or suspicion of) is dealt with quickly by kick/ban from the games (not only on 2142) and players that have this happen to them are requested to come to the forums to sort out that issue instead of trying to handle it in game during a battle. I know that from time to time, that may seem draconian, but it is the quickest and easiest way to deal with issues and minimize any negative effects on the rest of the players in server at the time.

For those who have stated that being kicked for not following orders is BS, I merely wish to point out that while you may be correct in saying that the current commander/SL does not have a good idea of what is going on or how best to attack/defend a particular point.....we were all there at one point or another. The reason that this rule is enforced completely is that if you were to take the SL/Commander spot you would want people to follow your objectives as well. This rule was put in place to do just that. No matter who is Commanding/SL, those are the orders and should be followed (same for everyone if YOU are in the lead spot). It is the only effective means of training people into good SL/Commanders over time. Now, on those occasions where you have a different opinion on what course is the best course of action to take most (if not all of the people that I've played with) are willing to hear your idea and if you explain what it is you are trying to do then most of the time they'll accede and either tell you to go ahead or set that order for you themselves. There are instances when they might decline and say that they really want you to do whatever it was they asked in the first place.....and at that point that is the expectation then. Only then does not following the stated orders become an issue.

On the comment about "....my K/D was the only positive one on the team, so it was THEIR (meaning the rest or your team) loss..." that is just silly. This is a team game, you win and/or loss as a team end of story. If that is not the case for you and you think that K/D is the end-all-be all to "winning" then something more along the lines of Death Match might better suit your play style (nothing wrong with that play style by the way - just not the play style supported by the BF games model in my opinion).

In the instance pointed out by Raziel....Raziel there are many times when I've pulled attackers off of an enemy titan after the shields go down. If the enemy commander/team pulled a large number of players back to defense (and note: your commander would be aware of this through Sat Track whereas you might not necessarily have the same information) you can quickly kill their titan on silos alone by filling the vacuum and taking/holding all 5 silos. When the enemy commander pulls his head out of his *** and realizes this and again throws most of his team back on silos, that makes a perfect time to then rush the enemy titan again with a few squads to kill the core quickly. However, to attack a well defended titan hoping for a lucky grenade to clear a corridor is merely throwing bodies at it and does not ensure a win. But, I am sorry that this makes you feel that the TTP server is unplayable for you, though I'd say you should probably give it another chance with an open mind with the idea that when the entire team is playing as a TEAM and following a larger strategy the chances of winning the round are exponentially higher.

    [/soap box]

That is all - in closing...

TTP espouses Team/Squad based play above all else and the rules are enforced. The admins kick/ban first simply to minimize disruption during game so that the chat hud is not filled with some conversation not related to the game that is going on. It is not personal and it is handled on the forums (and there is a very well defined procedure in place for this). Most bans are overturned once the player in question is presented with a chance to cool down from the kick/ban and can present rational reasoning behind either what he/she did in the first place, or realizes what the rules were and why the admins took the tack that they did. Admin Abuse claims are also handled on the forums and are taken VERY seriously. I've seen admins lose their "jobs" through abuse claims so action is taken when the offense is actionable.

I hope that you come check TTP out...it really is a very good place to play.
