Re: Join the Air Force
Its actually cheaper to contract some of these things out than pay the troops salary and benefits to do them all. Almost all landscaping, bus drivers , chow hall workers, etc. are contracters now. Hell even the cops at our gates (Tinker AFB, OK) are now contactors, the USAF Security Police patrol the base though.
Most military guys get their share of shitty details at some point, but the contractors are here to stay, at least stateside.

Side note, just for Repo:
I was running through a list of one-line -107 and -202 reports today for an A-10 contract and found this little gem:
FOD #2 ENG INGESTED TECHNICAL ORDER. COMP DMG.
(Translation for everyone else--Somebody wasn't paying attention, and left his tech order--the plane manual--lying in front of the engine and it got sucked through and did around $300k in damage)

And the best thing to do to keep yourself from most of the shitty jobs...stay out of sight.
Out of curiousity, what do you do? Me I am a crew chief now on the F-22 doing my rotation 2 on 2 off 3 on etc. as a supervisor at the alert facility, waiting for the klaxon to sceam...

Hell, I already know half of the songs.
