    My Immigration Plan

Since the subject of illegal aliens has become a major issue in the last few years and is especially big this election I have given this much thought and come up with my own version of a plan that I think will really work. This plan is similar to McCain's but on steroids.

    Border Security
This is an issue actually all REPS candidates agree on. They all agree that we must secure the borders first and foremost then deal with the illegals already here. I'm for that. There is plenty of technology and resources we can throw at this to make it work correctly. I'm not really for a fence, I think that is a waste of money. I would rather see satellite technology used in a way that makes it easy to pinpoint real time criminals crossing our border.

The big question - what to do with the illegals?

This is a very delicate issue and one that I haven't heard a really great plan from anyone yet on either side. Romney and Huckabee want to give no amnesty to anyone and basically somehow track down all the illegals one by one and deport them. I doubt either one has really looked at how much this will really cost in terms of both dollars and resources. This is almost nearly impossible as we really cannot even begin to locate where these people are at. McCain's plan calls for a crack down on employers, for the 2 million of the 12 million that have criminal records to be deported immediately and for the rest to pay a $5,000 fine, apply for a Z card, learn english and basically then become a defacto citizen. More details can be found here..

Obama also support this plan made by McCain/Feingold above.

Hillary - I'm not really sure where she stands because she gives no real plan or supports nothing. She does however continuously complain

I think there is a better way to reach a middle ground and be a much more reasonable plan for both sides. It goes like this:

    1. Deport all criminal illegals immediately.
    2. Require remaining 10-13 million illegals to apply for temporary citizenship card within 3 months. The faster the better as they can start paying taxes. In addition they will be require to pay a $2,000 fine up front. They will also be required to complete 100 hours of community service.
    3. Those who do not have a card showing their temporary citizenship after 6 months will be deported immediately if caught. Employers will also be required to obtain cards from all employees and send ID#'s electronically to the Government to prove temp citizenship. At this time random checks on companies in the construction and home building industry will be performed to ensure proper temporary citizenship cards are in the hands of previous illegals. Again all caught will be deported and companies will face a large fine.
    4. After they obtain the card they will have 2 years to learn english and complete a test, which will be posted to their card and logged. They will also have had to complete their community service at this time which will also be posted on their card and logged into the national database.
    5. Any citizen caught in these employer checks or pulled over or caught in some act without proof of citizenship will be deported immediately.
    6. After their community service and english test are completed successfully they can become citizens.
    7. Any illegal caught in any way from this point out will be deported immediately.
    8. Any company showing valid complete legal papers on all citizens will be granted a one time tax relief for the following year. This can be repeated.

For those who say this is unfair to the people who have been waiting in line to get in I understand that, but unfortunately we have ignored this problem for too long and how we have to deal with it. This is the way that makes the most sense at this time. People who are in line will still become citizens at the same time or possibly earlier (if a plan is made).

How would satellite's tell the difference between a migrant worker and a criminal?

So would the $2,000 fine have to be paid over, lets say, the course of 4 years? I think it would be too much for people that are already below the poverty line to pay this in a short amount of time.

I like your plan, but there is a problem.

The problem with the biggest group of illegal immigrants now days (South and Central Americans) is that when they come here they have dreams of going back to to their old countries with tons of money, so they do not assimilate. People who emigrated before them did so to become Americans, and they wanted their children to be Americans so they taught them English, and they made them Americans.

80% of South and Central American immigrants believe that one day they will go back to their homeland, so they don't drop their language or customs. They do not want to pick up on the American way. They do not want to assimilate. Why should they? They aren't staying here. This is just a temporary thing so that they can go back to their country rich. They didn't come here to be Americans, they came here to be El Salvadorian or Mexican or Columbian so that they can get rich and go home to live a better life.

But out of the 80% that believe they'll go home, less than 5% of them do so. They still believe that they will go home, and they pass on this believe to their children.

This is what my friend told me his professor told him in a class he was taking on...Immigration? I forget what he was majoring in, but it dealt with immigration and he explained it A LOT better, lol.

I have several friends whose parents are illegal immigrants, and those parents, after 25 years, still think they are going back to Mexico, or in one case Guam. My friend who are 18, 20, and 24 still tell me that one day they will go back to their parents native land. If you go to their house, you'd think you just stepped into an apartment in Mexico City or Hagåtña. They need to want to be American for this to work in my opinion. Otherwise they'll go on living how they are; not paying taxes and getting paid under the table. Although, they should NEVER assimilate their food, its so god damn delicious to get home cooked mexican food.

I don't know what I'm talking about. Disregard this post if it makes no sense and/or is stupid.

Migrant workers probably would use a road and not be swimming across a river, digging a tunnel etc.

Yes the $2,000 would have to be paid by the end of the 2 years. Also, they can have the ability to have dual citizenship. Just because your a US citizen doesn't mean you have to stay here. In addition the McCain plan actually gives workers the option for a "Work Card" which means they do not have to be citizens. This is fine with me as long as they pay for healthcare and taxes. I would suspect that your professor is right in that most of the families end up staying here for whatever reason - probably their kids already making friends - the schools - all the great things about our country.
