Never heard of them pulling you over just because your belt wasn't on.
In Rochester, Ny, they seem to pull people over for non-seatbelts more than they do for suspected dui. They're anal about seatbelts around here.

and yet motorcycles get to drive around with out any regulation at all

crazy, I got pulled over yesturday in south texas for not having a seat belt.

"know why i pulled you over"

    no

    "You weren't wearing your seatbelt"

    Damn.

"Do you have your drivers, reg, proof of insurance

    no.

    "where you going?"

    school.

    "You live here?"

    Yes.

"Okay, just wear your seatbelt next time"

    thank you sir.
___ So...I got a nice cop? Or was he just being lazy and didn't want to attempt to look me up?

My opinion, you got a good cop. He already knew the answers you were going to give, just wanted to make sure you gave them and didn't get nervous/antzy. Had that happened, then he probably would have run your license, and failing that, asked if you minded if he searched your car for contraband items.

Most cops aren't stupid, they pretty much have a good idea of what they're dealing with before they start dealing with it.
