Oh and VA matters in this primary, should be interesting to see who wins here. Obama and Mcain and Hillary have all bought commercial space on radio and TV here.

Again....if you support removing the electoral college becuase you want it to be a pure, popular vote....then you must support dissolving the senate, and letting the HoR decide all legislative business. Nobody is for that....so to say you want to trash the electoral college simply means, to me, that you aren't looking at why it's there.

    it's genius. Don't hate genius.
I agree that the electoral college is genius and that for the first 200 years it worked. I think the issue should be re-visited. NOT TRASHED but re-evaluated.

and what exactly is your suggestion? either we have a weighted average of the popular vote (which is the electoral college system), or we have a popular vote, or we have a completely state vote (say each state gets 1 electoral college vote, for 50 total in the USA....all states get equal voice)

don't say "I think we should trash it", and fail to provide a solution. You sound like Joseph Biden or Nancy Pelosi.

Re: Democrat nominee decided by super delegates?

there is no other way. having each state have equal weight is less representative of the system in place. to be redundant, it doesnt fucking represent the population vote.

a true representation would be having a population vote but that doesnt work either.

I say keep the electoral system the way it is except for one major change.

Every state has their primaries on the same day. Period.

I am really upset that here in my state we arent able to vote for who we want, because they have dropped out way too early. Having a nation wide primary would make it so that if a person wants to vote for a candidate then they can. As it stands now, my choices have dwindled away so that if I want to stay with my party I pretty much only have two options instead of the multitude the first states have.

Why should Iowa, Vermont, etc get to decide who even gets a chance for my vote?

Absolutely in agreement with that. It is absurd that a small handfull of not even very populous states get to determine the winner so far in advance. People like to vote for the winner after all, so they just start agreeing with the first 4 states; its ridiculous.

I know this is off topic, but I work with and for a lot of "evangelical" type people. I think it's funny to hear them talk about how so and so isn't Christian enough or who's conservative enough. At the same time they talk about "I can't believe blacks are voting for the black candidate. That's just stupid to vote for someone based on race." It's hypocritical to vote for someone based on religion as well. I vote for the person I think is the least crooked and who really wants to help this country. I could give two shits about what color, race, creed, sex, sexual orientation a candidate is. What we need is a president who cares about the people and wants to do what is best for us. Not some oil tycoon that wants to make himself and his friends richer. "People should not be afraid of their government. Government should be afraid of it's people."

Re: Democrat nominee decided by super delegates?

CNN's anderson cooper just interviewed a "superdelegate" kid. 21 years old, ran for a DNC official position, and won it a few years back. becasue he's a DNC official, he gets to be a super delegate.

Anderson asks him if he's heard from anyone cool...and he's like....

"oh yeah, madeline albright called me in my car the other day, and Bill Clinton called me, we talked for a while....oh, and I had lunch today with Michelle Obama (or wahtever her name is)".

No shit...huh? What EXACTLY was the point of the call? Is this monitored? Anderson joked if anyone gave him any money yet....but that's not a joke. Seriously.......how much money is being offered for his vote?

Where is the regulation....the transparency? Where is the voice of the people, if VIPs like madeline and Bill can call 21 year old kids on the phone, slide them some cash (or even THREATEN THEM), to win that 1 super delegate.

they said in his state, his super delegate vote was worth 13,000 regular citizen votes. (or at least that was the run down the preceding piece explained about superdelegates, and I assume the state they did the math on was this kid's.)

Sad, democrats. Just sad. Treachery. And we burn it down.
