Played a full day and night playing Splinter Cell DA when it first came out. I was in LOVE with CT, and I only had a weekend to finish the game/play multiplayer. My friends were so pissed at me.

Yeah, I get the pain behind my right eye as well :/. Does it typically happen to the right eye though? It never happens to my left...

Anyways, when I'm addicted to a game, my average game play is about 10-12 hours; stopping only to grab food or go to the washroom. I've gone past 12 a couple times, but doesn't really happen much. This all was more common back when I played Starcraft I and Diablo II though, heh. These days I never play anything for more than a 2-3 hours (if I even play, that is).

As a result my vision's suffered quite a bit. I used to have perfect vision but after spending so much time in front of the monitor, my eyesight has (and still is) gotten a lot worse. I mean, it's still not that bad but...meh.

I don't really remember the longest I've gone playing video games. I played video games a lot more back then compared to now. Back then, I would spend all day playing this one computer game, only stopping to eat and whatnot. Nowadays, I'm a lot more busy, and if I'm lucky, I can get on for 1-5 hours.

I don't spend 12+ hours on video games. It's hardly possible for me these days. The only symptom I've noticed when playing video games for hours recently is sweating.

I know from personal experience that it does take a toll on your body. You get fatigued, pain in the eyes, migraines, your not eating enough, it is mentally exhausting and it is hard to go to sleep afterwards (your mind won't shut off and you keep thinking about the game). I've visited friends after playing long sessions and they told me I looked like I was on drugs (I guess its the puffy eyes). It drains you...and it does make you feel a bit off, not "drunk" but close to it. I also wear a headset which is playing hell with my ears....

I assumed most of this was due to the lack of sleep at first, but the more I did it the more I noticed that I only got certain symptoms after playing FPS games for long periods of time. The eyes are the worst, I get the horrible pain behind my right eye after a few hours of playing now. That's why I limit myself these days.

I do take short breaks between games btw, but it's mostly just long enough to grab a cigarette, use the bathroom, and get a fresh drink. So 3-5 minutes tops between 1-2 hour "rounds" of game play.

I don't have these problems when I'm playing my "retro" non-FPS games. I assume its because when I play FPS games I'm constantly giving it my full attention and most of the time I can't pause.

Anyone else have these problems after playing for an extended period of time? Would our resident nurse care to comment? I'm interested in hearing the opinion of someone who's actually gone to school on this one.
Now a day I can play for a good 3 or 4 hours, but by the end of it im usually so high that i either pass out or my eyes cross and begin to tear up from not blinking... the last time i played for 12 or more hours was probably when fallout 3 came out...damn was i addicted.

My attention span is far too crazy to play longer than 2 hours straight through.

I mostly don't eat a lot and I've started getting the eye pains. x.x Lately, I've had other kind of sicknesses, so migraines... I don't know what the cause is for them but I do know the sore eyes are from staring into a screen nonstop and the eating crap is from being too engrossed to leave my damn chair.

All in all, I've probably turned that 12 hours into dust.

For those of you who play online for that long, bless you. I could never deal with the people on Live for that long of a period of time.
