    Re: Are You A Musician?

I played guitar now for 6 or 7 yrs. i have a fender electric and acoustic. I play anything i hear on the radio. Stevie Ray Vaughn is a big influence along with eric clapton and others. I love to play blues, old and new rock, dont dig the country much but the wife does so i play her some here and there. I also learned some kids songs since after my first born. ]
Been playing for so long and never had the pleasure of playing in a band. Mostly played by myself so i have learned to incorporate rhythm and lead together. First song learned was Metallica "nothing else matters". I have recently gotten bored with it so i havent picked it up in awhile. Its just like riding a bike though. Except for the sore fingers.

    L4D2 Sorround sound question

    Hello Guys,

first off I wanted to say I like L4D a lot, thanks for this great game! looking forward to next DLC.

Just I am on xbox, and I don't know if sorround sound of this game is working fine to me , so I wanted to know any opinion from people playing L4D with a 5.1 system.

My problem is that I find really difficult to detect zombie sounds , especially if they appear from behind, so I was wondering if any of you have had to change any settings for the rear speakers to create a good balance, seems like I can't find a "nice sorround sound image", or maybe it's totally intended?

I tried other games, Gears of Wars works perfectly for istance, also I have the sound system properly calibrated, and made several tests using pink noise and everything works fine.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks a lot in advance,

btw- please excuse my poor english, not my native language.

    Thanks

L4D doesn't have a great sound stage, so you don't get great results with surround sounds like you do in other games.

I reccomend buying a good set of headphones that do stereo output, or playing the game in stereo with your current set-up. This might resolve some of your problems. Alternatively you can try to play with your equipment and see if you can find a better balance for this one game.

Zombies coming up from behind have never been a really big issue for me. If they aren't left and they aren't right and I can't see them that means they are behind me. Dealing with them is just instinct for me, you just have to take a quick peek behind you every now and again or stuff will sometimes sneak up on you no matter how good your sound setup is.

At any rate if your looking for an edge upgrade to headphones imo. They are much better for pin-pointing enemies and you can always crank them up as loud as you want.

    Hi Hillbilly,

Thanks a lot for your reply,

Definitely a good headphones is a thing I looking for.

Really not an issue to me either don't listen zombies from behind, just I would love to hear them for more inmersive experience.

I made one "test" more with LFD music turned off , definitely there is sound on rear speakers, but seems like a decision from "sound mixers/editors" , I mean, there is a noticeable difference between Front/Rear levels compared to other games, in any case, I will store a special setting for L4D with more level on rear speakers ;-)

Thanks a lot for your help mate!
