Man wiped out by fake Craiglist ad
Because if you see it on the internet, it's clearly true, right?
Someone put out a couple of Craigslist ads while a guy was off somewhere, saying that he had to leave and everything he owed was up for grabs, completely free - even his horse. Lady calls him about the horse, wanting to make sure it was all good. He actually runs into people carrying his stuff away as he's driving home, and they actually have the nerve to tell him - the guy that supposedly put the ad up there to begin with (!) - that because Craigslist said they could have it, he has no right to take it back.
Police will be prosecuting people with his stuff that don't agree to turn it over to him. People that have some of his stuff can return it to him with no questions asked and no charges. Can't wait for this to hit court, because you know there's gonna be at least a couple of shitbags that insist it's now theirs. I can't fucking wait to see "The internet said I could have it, and the internet doesn't lie," pop up in court. It'll be in lawyerese, but simplified, that's exactly what they'll be saying.
Full story can be found here.

Re: Man wiped out by fake Craiglist ad
This happened last year to a woman. She got in a fight with a "friend" and the "friend" posted her address on Craigslist. If I recall correctly, the ad said something along the line of I'm moving and can't take all this stuff...so please help yourself to it.

Re: Man wiped out by fake Craiglist ad
This is crazy. I just read this in the paper today - The Oregonian... The guy is about to move and someone even came to take his horse. He got some license plate numbers though because people didn't believe that he actually lived there.
This is funny that someone else found this the same day I read it in the actual paper here in Portland.
