The Next Generation of High Speed is Still Cable Modem

Residential customers can enjoy the new 50/5 extreme high-speed Internet service for $149.95/month. Existing Triple Play customers can also choose the 50/5 speed tier for an additional $100/month. An example of this new speed: Comcast customers could download a 4 GB HD movie in about 10 minutes. The same file on Qwest's 1.5 Mbps DSL service would take more than 6 hours!

Coupled with the 50/5 launch, current Comcast High-Speed Internet residential customers will also enjoy increased upload speeds on their existing services for no additional cost. This is the fifth speed increase for residential customers in five years without a price adjustment.

Comcast will nearly triple the upload speed of its Performance tier to 6 Mbps/1 Mbps and more than double the upload speed of Performance Plus tier to 8 Mbps/2 Mbps. In addition, with Comcast's PowerBoost(tm) technology, customers enjoy even faster speeds!

I just wish there was a good cable alternative to TWC here in San Antonio. I'm getting tired of their lazy asses and all their fuck ups.

Sure, once you basically invalidate a third of all Internet traffic (I'm looking at you, Bittorrent), you'll have tons of excess bandwidth to splurge on customers that will never see anything close to that speed!

I've seen very, very few download servers that will allow connections even as fast as our 15/2 fiber, much less 50. Bandwidth is a two-way street, and sh*t you can't use is sh*t you're wasting money on.
