Thread: How do you define a soul?

Yes conscience and everything encompassing that (emotions, reasoning, intelligence, etc.) = soul.

Ok, so what do you think happens to a soul after death? Does it just cease to exist? That would suck. I think its kinda important to consider what will happen to a soul when you're trying to define it. Is a soul eternal?

What is a soul? Wow. That's heavy stuff. I've read all your posts and can relate to all of them, but none of them persuade me to believe that they express the absolute truth. I don't know the answer either, so please don't think that I'm trying to give you one.

As an engineer, lawyer, and amateur philosopher, I've often wondered about the soul and its practical application. In other words, do we have a soul and if so then what do we do with it? I gave up on the first part of that question a few years ago and instead resigned to Faith with a capital "F". I arrived at the conclusion that souls in fact exist and the evidence of them is that we are able to communicate our deepest feelings through the ether. We do that by smiling, crying, caring, .... by understanding each other. We don't even need to see each other to feel those things. We can feel them through our writing, smoke signals, music, and so forth. No barrier can stop our feelings from carrying through the ether from one person to another.

So, having resigned to the existance of souls, I wondered what to do with such an awesome power. In other words, what could I do with my wrinkled hands to prove my Faith? One thing I did was donate money to TTP and expect no special treatment in return. Another thing I did was resolve to fight for what is right and rest money at a lower priority. FYI, I still won't work for free, though. The damn bills won't stop coming in and people won't hire a lawyer that lives in a van down by the river!

Back on topic. Assuming that souls exists, what can we do with them? I think that the best application of our souls is breaking down barriers and helping each other become all that we can be. Do you want to be an engineer? a communicator? a healer? a tradesman? an entertainer? something else? No matter what you want to be you will benefit with a team that intersects with your soul.
