Montana Meth Project
The long and short of it is this. What if you got some of the best directors of our time, and got them to do PSA's. I don't know how many states these air in now but I haven't seen them in Texas. They are pretty shocking and graphic but honestly, I think each one is 30 seconds of brilliant movie making. Here is one from Darren Aronofsky.

Re: Montana Meth Project
Meth is a bitch.
One of my best friends from high school got wrapped up in it. After we graduated from high school we stayed in touch, but he tried to make money right away by working at various machine shops around the city. I, on the other hand, went to college, stayed broke, and stayed living with my parents for several more years. He got married, had a kid, and his jobs weren't bringing in enough money to get ahead. Yeah, he could pay the bills on a decrepid apartment and keep an old car going, but that was about it. His marriage faultered. Of course he wanted more and needed to find a way to make more money. He took every opportunity that came his way, which wasn't many. Enter cocaine.
A hottie at one of the shops was selling coke, so my buddy got into it with her and got caught. He fled out West and tried to hide. Of course, since he was trying to lay low he was afraid to get a real job. Someone taught him to cook meth and he went into business and got caught again. I never knew this for the longest time. All I knew was that he moved out West and I never heard from him again.
He called me about eighteen months ago and told me that he had been in prison for the last five years. That part is sad. The good part is that the prison system did a nice job with him. After his first year or so they put him on a forest fire crew. He got dropped into forest fires and got a chance to work with a team instead of just being someone's tool. That experience seemed to change him and now he's back in society and finally making good money with the leadership skills that he learned through the prison. He even came back home for a while, met with authorities and faced up to what was coming to him. I don't know if his local ordeal is over, but I hope the local authorities have the wisdom to not beat this guy down any more. His "ban" in the game of life worked and I hope he doesn't get banned again for an old crime.
That's a meth story with a happy ending, but primarily because meth disappeared from the picture. I hope it stays that way.

Touchy subject for me, since I've seen all to well how fucked up it can be. Think cocain is bad? This shit is as bad as heroin. All I want to say is I hope nobody here has to deal with it and if you want to watch a good documentary on it, check out 'Crystal Darkness'...
