your company's busy screwing you over...
Let's just say that you work for a subsidiary of a huge corporation. HUGE. And that you just got a project in a field (marketing) that you have no real experience in. And the first batch of it has to be done by Wednesday. The second batch, which is even bigger, needs to be done by the 15th. So you, in your infinite wisdom, decide to try to get this first set done by Tuesday.
...and then when you wake up early to work on it, you find that the site? Is down. After a week prior to this of transitioning the user platform, testing it, and making sure it works.
Also, this huge project? Would not have to be done if the search algorithms didn't suck monkey balls.
Let me just say that I am not amused by this shit. Hopefully the internal servers are working so I can DO WORK when I head in shortly.
Damn insomnia. Damn taking pride in my work. Damn morons who think occasional service to their clients is acceptable.
If this subsidiary tanks? I know exactly why. Jackasses.

My girlfriend has had some of the same problems with her company. She is asked to do a major project, only to find out that the network is down or that for some dumb reason she can't do extra work from home. She calls the IT Dept. only to receive a "Well, we'll work on it later. Funny thing is, they tried to get on her case about it. Damn corporate america.

You're obviously not focused on the big picture...
The money they saved on the service end boosted ROI from 13.9 to 14%, and EBITDA went to $1.5B, so the CFO and the CEO got a nice boost to their IC.
So clearly, it was all worth it in the end...

This is such a clusterfuck. And now I'm here at work and lo, the site is still down.
I really need to learn a language for its swearing so that I can adequately describe my feelings about this. (I'm looking at you, Germanic and Eastern European languages.)

Learn French, you can cuss someone out and sound sexy at the same time. Although, German would just be fun to cuss in. So many choices are available. I will soon understand your pain though. The AF will tell me what to research and a sub-contractor who doesn't communicate with the AF will give us the money after we need it! Bureaucracy is so much fun. If I say that enough times it sounds true.
enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P
Bigdog-Sweet home Alabama you are an idiot.

Trust me, French is highly unsatisfying to swear in. Been there, done that.
I finally found someone who's in the office! And can maybe fix the problem! Although I strongly suspect that this will be half a day at work down the toilet. At least. Apparently they've been having problems since last night. Coulda told 'em that.
Let your brain turn off and pray that you get Internet access at work. That's what I did when I worked the '06 election.

Agree with you on the French. I took five years of it in school, and the native French-speaking teacher/tutor we got for doing well on some national test taught us a bunch of swear words. Actually she gave us a whole packet on it. She also swore all the time... just for dropping her pencil.
Try Chinese. People tell me it sounds like the people are fighting even when they're talking normally. I wouldn't know.. I've been listening to it for too long. Japanese is also good. They've got some nice insults.

Re: your company's busy screwing you over...
Chinese does sometimes sound angry, but too many of my friends speak it, like you say, for me to notice all that much.
I've been told that because Japanese is so formal, it really takes understanding the language and the mindset within the language to get much out of the swearing there. But... well. Again with the not knowing, as I don't speak it.
One of these days I'll learn how to speak some German. You know, that's not movie German. Sadly the person closest to me who speaks it would never be able to explain WHY things work the way they do. It would be a tragedy of miscommunication if I were to learn from him.
(And to sort of head back to the topic: I am way, way, way too nice for my own good. How do you get a job here without knowing how to download and open files? I wish I were kidding.)
