Songs that Need to Go Away
Ok so here's the background on this. Me and my buddy were kind of drunk, ok a lot of drunk, and we started coming up with this list of songs that just need to go the fuck away. We based our decisions on what has been played to death, songs that have lost their meaning, and just in general annoy the hell out of you.
So here's what I propose to you guys, post up your list of songs that you think need to go away. And dont worry about offending people with your decisions, Im sure someone has thought of it at some time.
Ill Start off:
Ac/DC - Shook Me All Night Long - seriously do i need to say anything?
Ozzy - Crazy Train - We all heard it a million times and its getting too old
Black Sabbath - Iron Man, Paranoid, War Pigs - Only 3 Sabbath songs that get air time, and only 3 most know
Iron Maiden - Run to the Hills - Hearing it way too fucking much lately and its not even the best song on that album
Metallica - ANYTHING off the Black Album - overplayed, overdone, please stop playing it
Lynard Skynard - Sweet Home Alabama - need I say more
Nirvana - Anything they play - just too much of it out there
When I think of more Ill start posting them up. POST EM UP GUYS.

Re: Songs that Need to Go Away
Rap needs to go...(except for Kid Rock, since he actually PLAYS instruments)
Any and all corporate country....which is all of it except for the American Recording sessions with Johnny Cash...the rest of it is nothing more than a cheap imitation of Skynyrd, pop with cowboy hats...all hats and no cattle...
Anything from Nirvana...weve heard the good stuff too much...No different than AC/DC Back in Black...heard that shit so many times...
Any of the "New Metal",where the singer growls like hes trying to hock a lugie...have a losenge and STFU!
Anything from the Greatful Dead...put the bong down and take a shower..
Anything from KISS..great to see live...don't need to hear it on the radio though...
Livin after Midnight by Judas Priest....nuff said
You almost can't listen to the radio anymore...It doesn't matter if you are into Country,New Rock,Classic Rock,R+B,whatever...They take somthing good and absolutely do it to DEATH! Most all of the songs and bands in this thread were enjoyed by millions of people at one time, until radio killed them.Everyone has their own likes and dislikes.Music is such a personal thing. You can hear a song that you really make a connection with, whether it makes you reminise about times gone by,dance, tap your feet,laugh,cry,whatever...After hearing it a billion times, the connection fades, and it only becomes annoying.

Meh, underground independent label rap is still good.
Such as:

Music is an art-form and art is inherently subjective, but because YOU and your friends/fellow-critics dont like something doesnt make it bad.
How artistically ignorant of anybody to dismiss an entire genre, especially one like "rap" (if you can even define it without mentioning race) which generates bajillions of dollars of record sales each year.
In the mean time, I'm gonna go get crunk on my lunch break and rock out to some T-Pain and Flo-Rida.

I'm not really sure what you meant when you said Rap couldn't be defined without mentioning race. Are you talking about the predominatly black people who make it,or the suburban white kids who buy it?Lets not forget that Rock and Roll was invented by blacks, and we can define that without bringing up race. Most Rock and Country music is based in the blues...which was invented and perfected by blacks.
The almighty dollar is not a representation of quality. Some of the best music ever made was written by people who died broke.Mozart is buried in a mass grave because he didn't have enough money for a formal buriel. He isn't really my cup of tea,but he is still regarded(300 years later )as one of the best composers to ever walk the planet, and his influence is still felt today.
I think we have lost sight of this thread (which I am guilty of with my sweeping generalizations and blanket statements),which was really,What songs have been played to death on radios and jukeboxes?
If T-Pain and Flo-Rita have the groove that makes your booty move...thats great..more power to ya.But will they still hold that groove in 20-30 years after you've heard them 50 billion times? Not likely...That was the original intent of this thread, and I'm sorry for my part in hijacking it.
