Stupidity is not limited to a certain period of time.

Thereby achieving time travel. Of course, at those speeds, the matter of an object disperses. Unless of course you are able to slow down matter in a single physical space. See the experiments of Lene Hau, where the speed of light has been slowed to roughly 38 miles an hour.
That's all based on whether time is a physical force or not though, right?

If we can move time forward then our lives have already been planned out and we don't really make any choices in life.

Wow, that is so true too. Time travel is impossible!

Errr, not really. Time is still just a measurment of the physical state of the universe at any given moment. By regressing matter backwards or at least halting matters progress you are halting time.

Think of it this way, if your body were to completly stop any metaphysical changes. No matter degredation. No energy cunsumption. Zero changes down to the atomic level. And we were to keep it in this state for 100 years. Then brought you back. You have time travelled, because your physical form has remained unchanged while the world around you has continued on its linear path.

You have gone into the future.

Reverse that. Speed up the physical changes of your body and environment. Slow the outside world.

You have gone into the past.

It is not "impossible" but it is highly improbable. The required energy to produce then kinds of results is something close to the harnessed power of the sun.

    Re: The theory of time.

Time is absolutely relative. It all depends on how fast your are traveling.

It is much easier to travel into the future than it is to the past. Lets looks at the twin paradox:

You have a twin with you on earth. You take a ride in a space ship for lets say one second, traveling at lets say 1/2 the speed of light. When you stop and return to where you left your twin, everything has changed. Your twin has been dead for over a hundred years, everyone you know has been dead for over a hundred years, and yet anatomically you have aged only by a few seconds. The only problem is the sheer amount of energy needed to do this.

In terms of the physics of it, I cannot see traveling back in time as possible. Even if you did, there is a problem known as the grandfather paradox. If you travel back in time, and kill your grandfather before impregnates your grandmother, then there is no possible way that you could exist to travel back in time.

Also, even if you do travel back in time and don't kill dear old gramps, you have to be very careful to not disrupt the chronology of events. If you do, you run the risk of completely altering the future with even one minor change in the far past. Stargate SG-1 did an episode that illustrates this problem. I find it the best way to describe it.

I completely agree, Michio Kaku is as brilliant as they come. He has been interviewed by the History Channel numerous times for the series "The Universe". And the great thing is he teaches at I believe CUNY, which is only a few minutes from me!!! :10
