Kimbo Slice on EliteXC this weekend
http://msn.foxsports.com/boxing/stor...PHCP>1=39002
In case you've missed it, this guy is famous for being a youtube streetfighter. Bare-knuckled smashings of the highest order.
I'll tune in, just for this Kimbo main event.
Interestingly, Dana White, President of the UFC said that Kimbo would be utterly dominated in the UFC and wouldn't stand a chance.
What do you think?

Re: Kimbo Slice on EliteXC this weekend
I guess we will see tonight. I'm not going to place any bets on Kimbo but I really don't know what type of a fight its going to be (I mainly watch the UFC) and dont know much about James ‘Colossus’ Thompson other than what google told me. What I was really surprised about is how many people think that CBS shouldn't be airing this type of sporting event. I guess it wasn't that long ago that it was banned in most states and people still get the wrong impression that its like a gladiator battle and someone is going to die.

Re: Kimbo Slice on EliteXC this weekend
It was a strange fight...
at one point Thompson had side control against the cage and the ref stood them up...I was like..."But...he...."
Then, in the 2nd round kimbo took what seemed like 15 elbows to the head and the ref never stopped it....
Then, in the 3rd round, kimbo landed 4 uncontested shots to the dome, popped the guy's grotesquely colliflowered ear and rocked him with an uppercut and the ref stopped it.
I think Thompson might have been out on his feet but it seemed like the ref might have had a hand in the result of the fight.
Kimbo had some decent moves on the ground but he has a lot to learn it seems. At times he looked lost and at other times you could see that his time training for MMA has resulted in him learning a few things.

Re: Kimbo Slice on EliteXC this weekend
The whole thing seemed over protective to me. Every fight was a ref decision and only one was a real knockout and that was a close call. As for the Kimbo fight I agree that he has a lot to learn on the ground but his hands are still really good. I think the ref stopped the fight too early. To me, its not to be stopped as long as both fighters are still on their feet. Maybe CBS is afraid of showing a little blood and as soon as that giant tick for an ear on the side of his head popped that was enough for them. Who knows but I will for sure tune in to the next fight, hopefully they get someone with some real jujitsu skills to test him.

Re: Kimbo Slice on EliteXC this weekend
A BJJ or a Muay Thai fighter would dominate Kimbo left and right...put him up against the likes of Mirko Crocop, Ricardo Arona, Vanderlei Silva, Shogun Rua or the dutch muay thai fighters like Gylbert Yvel and he won't last long conscious.
