Thread: 1 Year at TTP

Today marks my one year aniversery at TTP and I just wanted to make a thread expressing how much this year has meant to me.

I first became aware of TTP when I was playing 2142. I liked your server because it was almost always full, I got good pings and your admins weren't afraid of taking out the trash. I squadded with a number of people but the one who convinced me to join the forums was Laggy. He would repeatedly squad with me and badger me into being the squad leader to improve my leadership abilities. After a couple times of this I relented and registered at the forums. A little while latter I joined BFH, a top-notch group of the dregs of society. Seriously though, they were all great people and I loved every minute of being their clanmate. But then real life intervened hard and I drifted away from the Hobos and 2142.

When the Orange Box came out I immediately became addicted to Team Fortress 2. Again, I gravitated back toward the TTP server. It was like a shining beacon of hope in the instant-respawn, shitty custom maps wasteland. TTP again proved that it was better tehn any other server for one simple reason: It had the best admins. Period.

So when I was asked if I would serve as a TF2 admin I was floored. I was a little surprised how honored and touched I was by the offer. I believe reply to the High who asked me was "I feel like a beauty pageant winner being crowned" And once I saw behind the curtain into the world of being a TTP admin I was again astonished. The Admins here at TTP are held and indeed hold each other to such high standards. There is a lot of trust given by the leadership to the server admins and that trust deeply honored me.

Since then I have expanded out to include more games, namely DoD and COD4. Each time I encountered another group within TTP and each time I saw a community built on the foundation of teamwork. And behind every game there was a dedicated and devoted group of admins.

I've seen a lot happen to TTP over the year. We've had the bad, DDoS attack on our web server; and the good, breaking the 100k barrier on Alexa rankings. I've seen the scum of the internet parade past in the banned forums and I've seen the comradery demonstrated every day by the regs toward each other.

Recently Adsartha, my fiancee joined TTP and begin writing articles. TTP again surprised by giving her something she has been missing, recognition for her writing. The comments you have left and the PMs she has received have touched her very deeply. All this has drawn us closer together and made our lives a little fuller.

TTP has become a second home to me, a solid rock in my life that I can always depend on. The responsibilities I have been trusted with are a deep honor to me. Teamplay isn't just a set of server rules, it is a way of thinking and living. I can honestly say that this year at TTP has changed the way I think, act and speak.

Thank you to all the founders, without them this community could not exist. They put everything they have into this community, money, emotional energy and an inestimable amount of time.

Thank you to all the admins, without you TTP would be nothing. You stand sentinel on the servers every day, drawing a line in the sand and saying "This is what we believe in and we will fight to preserve it".

Thank you to all the regs who instill the ideals of TTP. You are the ones who carry TTPs torch, subtlety spreading our ethos of teamplay to anyone who happens upon or servers.

Nice post Arreo. Congrats and a thanks to you for helping keep TTP what it is today.

It's seriously posts like this that make my week.

It means a lot, to us - in that if we (Arreo included, TTP as a whole) improve one additional gamers life and playstyle - just one, one a day, one a week, one a month....then we've succeeded.

As frustrating and dingy, and nasty as is the underside of the majority of servers, they make TTP's beacon of light and fairness shine that much brighter.

Go TTP admins, reservists and Regs - !
