I would suggest Verify local game files in Steam properties or just a full reinstall of Steam...

But have you tried connecting to a server through the console?

I'm new with Steam and CS:S. I really don't know how I would connect through the console. lol

But I tried that verify thing and it seems to be connecting a bit easier.

If I reinstall steam will I have to reinstall all my Steam games too?

I'd definitely try the console. On one of my older PCs, I used to have trouble connecting to servers like that.

Turn on developer's console in your advanced keyboard settings then hit ` and type the following:

connect 72.233.44.146:27015

to connect to our CS:S main server.

wait, this may be a problem with your router, try right clicking on one of those servers and copy its ip, open up console then and type in connect +thatip, post up what it says
