    Tim Russert: Going Forward

    Fellow TTP Readers,

I have to make a confession. I never listened to Tim Russert while he was alive.

As a lawyer I became jaded against television and, quite frankly, all commercial sources of information. My farming roots let me hoe long rows so that I could pray for fruits of my labor. That was good payoff and what I wanted in my youth. I wanted to be a soldier of our land like my dad was a soldier for our nation and principles.

Since those days I thought that every person wants to do what I did and learn as slow as I did. Doesn't everyone want to perspire with youth and pontificate with age? I thought so and wished upon others my slow learning and passion for melancholy. But such a life is not for everyone. It certainly doesn't help a plumber, or garbage man, or roofer, or any other man of an urgent trade. Such men have things to do and customers to take care of.

It wasn't until Tim Russert's passing that I learned about his love for America and love for teaching politics. It's a good thing that others cared for him and loved him enough to tell his story. They cared enough about Mr. Russert to teach people about him and his integrity. Just like Tim loved to teach people about seemingly gritty aspects of life. Aspects of life such as parenting, loving, and politics.

Mr. Russert was one of America's greatest teachers. I am convinced of that and am sorry that I never listened to him.

Please learn from my mistake of melancholy learning. Share with the world all that America has to offer and do it with your deepest conviction and patriotism. One of our greatests gifts is our freedom to continue to fight and learn. But with whom and from whom? Who will replace Mr. Russert as a fighter and teacher?

    Hopefully all of you.

    I love you. Game on.

    In TTP Spirit,
    ebaconjr

I as well, never really listened to Tim Russert while he was alive.. Well maybe once or twice, but you know what I mean. He was a really great man and now I'm in the same boat as you... Wish I could of seen more.
