also, only in texas can you get REAL FAJITAS!!!

not EXACTLY BBQ, but still DELICIOUS if done right...

real men cook their fajita's on the coals, like, meat-touching-charcoal.....sounds weird, but Aldon Brown of the Food Network does it that way, believe it or not, and it's AMAZING.

    Re: Texas

My brother and my brother-in-law compete in local BBQ competitions. I understand what you're talking about, I've had good beef ribs but I love a slab of pork the best. I Agree that brisket is the shit, if it's cooked by my brother-in-law. The best stuff I've ever eaten only comes around once a year at our city's competition when we get to eat the excess.

By the way, by the time I took the boat thing at the riverwalk I had already heard all the jokes. All the other boat guys had used the same jokes that I overheard from just walking along the riverwalk. It was kinda corny but a lot of people seemed to like it. There was an old german lady sitting next to me. Germans aren't typically too friendly, and she didn't stray off from the trend. Once I started speaking German to her she became friendly but she started speaking too quickly and then I only started to catch half of what she was saying. Are there many Germans in Texas? When I was in Germany I met a family that is German but that lives in Texas most of the time.

There are a great many communities in Texas founded by German immigrants who came to Texas in the 19th Century through the port of Galveston. My extended family (on both mother and father sides) are German to the last drop of blood and immigrated from Germany as Kaiser Wilhelm was rising to power. They didn't like where Germany was heading and people like Stephen F. Austin were offering cheap land to farm on (which was most of what my great-great-great grandparents did anyway) so they left.

Just off the top of my head the towns of Fredericksburg, Castroville, Riesel, a large portion of San Antonio proper and the greater San Antonio area, New Braunfels, and Berlin, were all settled by Germans or largely populated by Germans at some point.

Here are some links to follow if you're interested in German culture in Texas:

Texas is pretty tight, other than the heat lol. We went to best buy and bought my brother a computer today(the one I'm on now, and I'm envious even though I picked it for him haha). We also bought two copies of BF 2142; one for me and one for him. I'm making him play on TTP with me whenever I get back home to my own computer.. hopefully it will run the game cause I wasted $50 on Oblivion a while back and my computer wouldn't run it.

I'm ready to be back home though, I need to play CS and I'm melting here; my sunscreen is failing me, it's like being on the sun lol(except a sun where you can't understand everyone because they're speaking spanish >_<)

p.s. Your BBQ sucks! Missouri's ribs > Texas ribs. The steak here is delicious though.
Your brother won't be able to play any games in tech school. lol They don't have cable in the rooms just the bay rooms. So he'll have to wait till he gets to his first station.

    Bahaha me too!

    BTW, I love the Alamo...maybe it's because I'm a Texan.

Also, me and my family took one of those "ghost hunting" tours late at night, they meet in front of the Alamo at like, 10PM or 12PM or somethin' like that. The tour itself was cheesy, as we didn't see any ghosts, but they tell you some pretty creepy stories, show you some pretty creepy pictures, and let you use some of their paranormal equipment. It wasn't a bad thing to do, if I rememebr right, it was pretty cheap. You can also go to the neighborhood where a long time ago, a school bus filled with children stalled on the railroad tracks and catastrophe and multiple deaths ensued as the oncoming train couldn't stop. The street names of the neighborhood are all in rememberance of the children who died in the crash. If you park your car on the railroad tracks, and put the car in neutral, urban legend has it that the children will push your car off the railroad tracks where you can coast to safety. Also, if you put baby powder all over your bumper, you can see the children's handprints in the bumper. Of course, this is all urban legend, but it's always fun to mess with, just as is a Ouija board. http://paranormal.about.com/library/.../aa031201a.htm

I enjoy going to Dick's Last Resort on the riverwalk. It's always a nice change in restaurant atmosphere.

Who doesn't call it Fiesta Texas? That's what it's called. It's owned by Six Flags, but I have never heard it called that.

I went to Dick's one time with a group of friends. One of them didn't know about the place and almost jumped up when the waiter slammed the drinks down. We started laughing and had to tell him that's what this place is about.
