Texas has trees (East Texas).
The mosquitoes are nothing compared to Canadian mosquitoes. I've punched those suckers before and they just get back up, plug back in, and start taking my blood some more. Texan mosquitoes are one of the few things that aren't bigger in Texas, and that's a good thing.
Also, having been up extensively to Michigan and to parts of Canada, I can say that that part of the continent can get pretty damn humid.

I hooked up a trailor yesterday, and that simple task that took less than 10 minutes had me sweating from the humidity.
