Yeah.....don't worry about our National debt.....let's make Iphones(something totally not a necesisty) cheaper!
I'm sorry but there are SO many things to do better than spending more money that the Government doesn't have for a luxury item.
Edit: Crap, I'm a retard ATT subsidizing the price not the government.

what service provider does iphone use? Is it like a normal cell phone in terms of contracts and monthy usage payments?

Prices do vary, but they're not much more expensive than a standard plan would be. I think I pay something like $50 a month for my plan, which includes unlimited data transfer, unlimited text messaging, and a 2 year warranty, on a 2 year plan. I'm not sure if that's the going rate, though, as I have a family member that works at the local AT&T store.
