Actually, most cops still use hand-held ones...

oh, and actual RADAR radars don't pinpoint your car...they just say "somebody ahead of you is going X MPH"

Laser's on the other hand are BADASS! they point at specific cars, and have a range so freakin far the cop can tag you before you even see him. the local cops like to sit in our parking lot and use it, and I've gone to talk to em before about all of it.

Yeah, when they snipe, you're screwed, so don't even try to speed when you're by yourself...with other poeple on the road, your detecter will go off when they snipe somebody else...

Thats the one I have it works great. I have had it go off and found the cop parked 2 miles down the road. But it is vulnerable to the laser but the laser is expensive and most departments dont have those in alot of cars. Mostly they use them for speed traps here. But definatly be careful I have responded to alot of MVAs seatbelts save lives most of the time but I have seen times where people weren't wearing it and walked away versus if they had they would have been dead. Its unpredictable as is everything in life.

That is a bad ass radar detector. I believe most cops are on Ka band, so when it starts freaking out saying KA BAND, time to slow down... My radar detector took a crap a while ago. Arizona is HOT, and I left it in the window for too long I guess.. One day I came out to the car, fired it up and the thing sounded like a dying Terminator with a crazy deep and slow voice. Scared the crap outta me actually...

Same... South Texas heat killed mine, I need to send it back in for repair, I hear their service is excellent. Left it in the window and got a svc. req. message. Fortunatly I am not driving much anymore where I need it all the time. Definatly worth the money, saved me at least a dozen times.

yeah, KA band is for most cops..at least the standard guns. You have to be careful though cuz automatic doors to convenience stores and the like also show up on the KA band on most detectors.

As far as wrecks, yer a crazy mofo Toke, but have you been thrown out of the back of a truck in a spin from a blown out tire and walked away from it?

Well...neither have i. At least, i didn't walk away from it without all of my ribs being bruised and minor tissue damage on my leg.
