Re: America is NOT a democracy

My whole point in posting this was to get people thinking and to get people to understand that just because more people favor one thing or dislike another does not mean that it is correct or should be law. And I think that many people don't understand that. The Founders definitely understood that the law should be the basis of how our country runs, not the general feeling of the country. A good example of this principle is how many in this country feel that we should leave Iraq. But just because many feel that we should leave Iraq doesn't mean that we are going to and that is because the ELECTED OFFICIALS (that is the republic part coming into play) make the decisions.

oh you mean like how the neo-cons can push to give immunity for wire tapping without due process? isn't that in the constitution? 4th amendment i do believe, oh and didn't they also imagine a country where a person could not be detained without any rights, and due process forever without and evidence? (Patriot act, look it up president has the power to detain anyone for no reason and no check or balence to stop him from doing it).

Besides, OMG people have opinions and want to leave iraq, oh no we all are going to die because they are using the 1st amendment!!! god forbid!! and don't bullshit you meant something different because that exactly what your post sounds like your saying your trying to prove is that people shouldn't complain about the war because it up to the elected officials. Got new for ya, i can complain all i want about what i want.

I believe that anyone who is complacent with our form of government hasn't done their research. Also, you could easily argue that this is a theocracy or an oligarchy.

When you edit your post to make it semi-coherent I will respond to it. And I say that simply because what you just wrote makes no sense to me.

And that you did, good man. No matter what anyone says, or doesn't say, about your effort, the fact is that you learned something. No one can take that from you. :10

Here in Corpus Christi, right past TAMUCC, there is a naval base. They have a sign where if you drive past this certain sign, they can pull you over without reason and search you. (This sign is a good 1/2 mile to a mile away from any gate) Well, if you're new to the area, looking to hit the dorms, you can very easily pass them and there is no turn-around. Same thing happened to a gentleman of Middle Eastern decent that my poly-sci prof knows (my prof does NOT show bias as to Repub or Liberal...I've taken 8 classes w/ him and I still don't know his stance). He passed this area and they not only IMMEDIATELY pulled him over, but strip-searched his car, HIM, detained him for 7 or 8 hours questioning him...like...hardball interogatting him. He hasn't brought it up to media or any sort of outlet because he's TOO AFRAID now. Ain't that some shit. Let's SCARE 'EM INTO SUBMISSION!
