Re: How much longer does the Imperial System have?
Metric may be easier to learn, but imperial is still great. I'm in Canada, was raised on metric, but still prefer imperial for measurement calculations, although kilometers are easier for me due to familiarity. The imperial volume measurement system is still greek to me. I know a gallon but that's about it, not how everything translates into cubic inches, water weight.
12 base makes much more sense for mental math once you get familiar with it. 12 has more factors (1,2,3,4,6,12) than 10 (1,2,5,10), and decimals of 12 work out much simpler than 10. The five most common fractions all work out to one decimal place in 12 base... 1/4=0.3, 1/3=0.4, 1/2=0.6, 2/3=0.8, 3/4=0.9. Fractions are easier for me to work out in my head than massive decimal places, by far. I don't want to have a calculator every damn place I go. The strange thing about imperial is how often numbers seem to repeatedly pop up, ie; your extended 12 times tables... Once you really get aquainted with imperial, it makes just as much sense as metric.
You really should be using metric tools on metric, and imperial on imperial, though... Save damaging your nuckles, nuts, and bolts :P
Lord, please don't make me think construction in metric! Just don't!

fuckit...the entire world is converting to a binary system :-P
it'll make programming easier.
also, no more arguments of "NORTH AMERICA, COME TO METRIC"
or "EUROPE, YOU'RE A BUNCH OF PUSSIES"
EVERYBODY will have to change!
