My new desk setup
ive been looking around for ways to setup a dual monitor/desktop setup...but not the typical expanded/extended desktop, im looking more for of a virtual desktop setup, but assiging a desktop to each monitor/video card. after some digging, i imagine it would be pretty simple via *nix/xwindows, but alas, im looking to do this with m$ winders :?
i was hoping to be able to have at least two virtual desktops, the main desktop running my main applications and typical usage and throwing some secondary stuff on the second monitor/desktop and being able to just like alt+<number> between desktops...say for example im playing a game on the main, but then wanna look soemthing up right quick and i could alt+2 to desktop2 on monitor two, while the game is happily chugging away on the other monitor/desktop, but my kb/mouse input is swapped over to desktop2, and then an alt+1 to get back to the game...chit like that.
i was trying to avoid running two machines, but its looking more like this will be the only solution for what im trying to do. ive looked into every "virtual desktop" software i could find and some claim multimonitor support, but i cant figure it out...best i can do is extend the desktop and taskbar  i dont have a kvm switch either, so is synergy able to use a hotkey to switch between screens/machines or is it mouse movement only? :?:
or if anyone has suggestion/ideas to solve my initial conundrum, by trying to bind two desktops to two different monitors within m$ winders? :? :P

yep, youre gonna have to find a *nix...*nixes get and can do all the kewl stuff :? except that one major thing...play games well...or have good/popular/current games developed for them rather...
as posted before, if you wanna give it a try first w/o having to install anything, try the livecd that was posted earlier linky just pop it in, boot from cdrom and it runs off hte cd/ram...no harm, no foul :P
livecd's are also good for system recovery
