Re: Paintball guns?
from the last time i was into paintball, the impulse (smartparts) was a relatively cheep base gun which could be gradually upgraded over the years. Though im sure things have changed since then.

Re: Paintball guns?
Spyder MR2 or MR3 are both great guns. They look nice, come standard with removable stocks, have variable fire control for different fire rates, and both get pretty good ratings when combined with an after-market electronic hopper (evidently a non-powered hopper can't keep up with the fast rate of fire which results in chopped balls sometimes). Add on a remote air line and you are good to go. Best part: You can get the gun, a nice hopper, a remote air line, and a harness/vest/backpack for quite a bit less than what your parents are limiting you to.
If that one doesn't work out for you, I would recommend that you go to http://www.specialopspaintball.com/. They have some really great guns that you won't find anywhere else. Check out the X7 X36, that right there is a very nice looking gun.

One...
Two...
And, if you can squeeze a couple hundred more out of parents, this is by far the best shooting gun you can get for under a thousand.
