08-09-08, 04:59 PM #1Just how do you cope with a death: Results
So, as some of you may know, my bro's uncle died on the third. Thanks for all of your support. But today, the ninth, we had the service. My god I couldnt belive how many people knew him. It went back all the way to sunday school.
During the service many people had to crowd around to hear what was being said. A lot was about how he touched so many people, and his brother was very upset. He tried his best during the service to lighten up the service by telling life stories of both of them. If some of you live up North like my self, you remeber the blizzard of '78. If you dont know about it, I sorta do. It was a 3 day blizzard producing 4 feet of snow. Their mother was traped at her work for the three days. The father was traped at work too.
So durring the three days, my bro's uncle had to take care of him and his brother. There was scares food left in the fridge and cabnets. One of the good things the oldest brother was good at was cooking. He made some of the best recipes ever, some of them made into Food networks shows and magazines. During the three day he had to make something from very little. So the first day they had Mac and Chesse for dinner. The second day, more mac and chesse for lunch and dinner, and the third day, MORE mac and chesse. He made it with milk one day and with out the next.
So his joke lightend up the service, but for only so long. During the service people were asked to share some memories. His son is in the USAF and was going to Japan for Milatary work thier. When he was at the Airport his father said, "Just go, keep going and dont look back.". Those were the last words his son ever heard from his father again. But when he got to Japan he called his mom to say he made it, and the Pastor was told that he made it and thanks for praying for a safe journey. When his son rose his hand he just couldnt hold it in him self and bursted out crying and allmost collapesd in front of everyone. I felt so bad for the guy. But he was the one who had the most memories.
He also has a daughter, and all she had for memories was when he first took her out fishing. That hit her harder than her brother took it. She collapesd and freaked out everyone. When it came to end the service, the pastor had a speach to say about him, and how great he was. He loved his children so dearly. After he was done talking, we played his favorite songs. While playing, you expect the obvious. People were crying and then the CD was skipping due to useage. That lightened eveyone up and felt good to let out a laugh or two. Then it did it again. Finnaly it stoped and then All of a suddon I see my Bro stroming out of the room trying to hold him self together.
Me and my mom followed him outside. He had a couple of smokes and calmed himself down. When he ws able to talk he told us he had to get drunk and forgoet that this ever happend. Right as he was going inside I pulled him back and said "Oh now you dont, get back over here and dont you dare touch that beer, got it!?". He said "Ok fine now let go of me.". I did and told him you two had a great life together now dont ruin yours. Your children need you. Without a father they dont know what to do. I also told him that without him the people in his racing clan would be on the streets racing and then in jail or prision.
I convinced him and he didnt touch a beer. Thats as much as I know. But what one hell of a day it was. Thank you guys for giving me advice from talking about this tragic event in out family and your advice worked. Again Thank you. Feel free to reply.
